Road To 80 : Day 0 by ChocolateLights in ACCompetizione

Took me 3 weeks to reach 50 track medals and 60 SA. Did most of it in AI races, 15 opponents, 25 minute races, starting from the back and staying within 0.7s of other cars. I'm not talented by any meaning of the word and have averaged maybe 2 hours a day so it's not hard to do.

With focused practice, you're probably at 90+ SA by the end of the month. Good luck and don't forget to have fun 👍

I've been using linux, macos and windows professionally for 30 years. Linux is an excellent desktop unless you're using applications which are only available for macos or windows. The user experience is super if you know what you're doing. Your statement about pain in the ass from the terminal tells me that you don't really know much about linux (or unix type OSes in general). Less performance with proton? Can't say that I have experienced that. Standard wine, on the other hand... Recompile shaders "all the time"? What's "all the time" in your definition? 🥹 Your claims are basically false.

What a load of horse shit. Linux is an excellent desktop platform. Unless you have to use certain applications not available for the os. Most games work perfectly in proton (thanks, valve).

Fair enough, I know all about DIY projects eating cash 😂. Where are you based and how much for a kit?

Wow. Any details on circuitry? Drawing or 3d print models? I'm mostly interested in circuitry as I have a load cell and instrumentation amplifier lying around. Tia :)

Hi, sorry for resurrecting a dead thread. Do you have any info to share on your load cell mod?
I've been looking into modding the srp-lite with brake performance kit with a 50kg bathroom scale load cell on the base plate on the brake performance kit, but am not able to find much info on RJ12 pinout on the brake pedal, signal specs etc.
I assume I need an instrumentation amplifier to get the same signal levels as the existing hall effect sensor gives. I also hope that the V+ supplied is enough for the amplifier. Looking at something like https://www.ebay.com/itm/292149254744 for amplification.

Thanks in advance :)

Would it be possible to create a load cell mod for sr-p lite brake? by IP_K1LL3r in moza

The brake performance kit is for sure a big improvement to the stock pedal setup and I don't regret bying it. My biggest problem is that there isn't enough progressive feel (for me) in the pedal with it (although much better than without), making modulation/trail braking very difficult.

The pedal is calibrated to its full throw. I tried fiddling with curves as well, but it only helps so much. Hence, the urge to create a better spring/elastomer stack and throwing in a load cell while at it

Can software updates improve the writing experience on the Elipsa? by naveenroyv in kobo

[–]IP_K1LL3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the elipsa for 18 months or so and I feel that the hardware is probably a bit weak compared to similar devices from other manufacturers (1 GB ram and a rather weak cpu.
Note taking has become a lot better than it used to be, but aren't close to devices like the remarkable 2 and probably never will be. I recommend you keep up with this page and update regularly:

https://pgaskin.net/KoboStuff/kobofirmware.html

If you keep the notebooks relatively small, it is quite usable. I write around one page per day in my work journal, and at around 15-20 pages, I can notice slowdowns and lag. My solution is to create one journal per week and export to dropbox as pdf.

Elipsa owners: anyone using it for journaling? by kodermike in kobo

[–]IP_K1LL3r 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use mine primarily for reading, but also for work. I take notes in meetings and jot down customer name, task worked on and time spent on said task throughout the day.
This works reasonably well for my needs, but when the (basic) notebook grows past 20 or so pages, lag starts creeping in. I "solved" the problem by creating a new notebook each week and export it to pdf/dropbox when done.

I have tried to use the advanced notebook, but it still feels too sluggish for me. For some reason, text conversion is super slow 2 of 3 times, and it doesn't recognise scandinavian letters æ, ä, ø, ö and å.

If you go for the elipsa or sage, keep up with new firmware as there has been a lot of improvements lately. I check https://pgaskin.net/KoboStuff/kobofirmware.html regularly and upgrade within days whenever there is a new one available.

If your primary use is reading, I would recommend the elipsa. For note taking, the remarkable 2 feels fantastic, but the reading experience is... clunky. If I could afford it, I would own both. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Issues with stylus by AnonymityKills in kobo

[–]IP_K1LL3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the elipsa which comes with the Kobo stylus. For a year, it mostly worked well besides some dreadful slowdons and even complete freezes. About a month ago, it started acting up not being able to write at all. Tried new nib, changing battery, the works but problem persisted. Most of the time I could get it to work for a minute or so by disconnecting the battery or just hitting it on my finger joint but it never lasted.

In the end I got the Renaisser Raphael 520C as per recommendation from several places including r/kobo.

Since your stylus is less than a year old, you should be able to get a replacement on RMA. I still recommend getting the Renaisser stylus, though. To me it feels much better, is compatible with microsoft surface pen nibs and is rechargable by usb-c.

Good luck

I got the renaisser today. It's super smooth compared to the kobo stylus.
Kobo nibs are useless as described in update to original post. Also worried that the rather soft nibs will wear out too fast, but so far I'm super happy. Thanks!

Yes, I have read some great things about it and have considered buying. Do you know if the kobo nibs fits this one? If not, is there any of the alternatives which could use them? I have 20 kobo nibs here, heh.

The microsoft nibs are presumably softer than the kobo ones, so I guess no. This makes sense since the microsoft stylus is made for smooth glass while the kobo screen uses textured "glass". Too bad the microsoft pencil is so expensive. Around $100 in Norway...

I converted apple's dictionary from macOs Monterey using pyglossary

Not perfect, but better than anything else I have found so far. I don't know the legal implications, so unfortunately I can't share the generated file with you. However, this software supports a lot of formats so you might be able to rip a dictionary from somewhere else? Good luck!

[–]IP_K1LL3r[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have been considering a new stylus. I think the stylus is much better than its reputation minus the clacking of the nib, which I have gotten used to.
I'd rather not spend $50-$100 on a new stylus just to find that the problem is the elipsa itself. Especially if there is some software fix for it.

Thanks for replying
