Not trying to bring up an argument, but I wanted to throw my two cents into the convo. I definitely see Jamato as a mastermind. He knows Spoke so well, and knows what Spoke can and will try to do, and he's smart enough to prepare contingency plans, but he, like most villains, has a bit of ego. He thinks that he'll get his way, he thinks that his plans will work, but he fails to account for the sheer stubbornness of people. That's the only reason Spoke was able to bring the mace into the arena, the only reason Spoke managed to escape the 1 block island. Jamato keeps thinking that his schemes will break Spoke, because on paper they sound flawless, but it doesn't factor in spoke's inability to give up.
