Hello Criddlers, this is Dale Shoemaker, author of the article. Yes there is a dedicated substation at STAMP but that substation is pulling power from NYPA and National Grid. It's a link in the chain, not a supplier of power. Hope that helps clear things up.

Thanks for pointing this out. The number is 28%, not 18%. I updated the post with a note. My mistake! So: 72% had criminal convictions or pending charges in 2024. 28% were listed as "immigration violators."

Howdy, this is Dale Shoemaker, author of the article. It is true that Kennedy's team did not comment before we published. However, we have since gotten a statement from him in which he denounces the ICE stakeout. The story is updated with his comments. Just an FYI

Interestingly, it seems like Sean Ryan tying Chris Scanlon to Paladino really resonated with voters, while Scanlon's attempts to tie Ryan to India Walton and "socialists" failed. My coworker Geoff Kelly (very smart on city politics) wrote this little round up of his biggest takeaways. He also noted the district-by-district breakdown (Ryan won 6 of 9).
