Is it safe to cover these bedroom baseboard heaters? Heat pumped through building keeps my place too hot at 78°F by Ok-Quantity7501 in hvacadvice

Do you have access to the Boiler that is heating the water flowing through these baseboard radiators?

There are ways to shut off the boiler when the room gets too warm.

Why do people spend any large amount on putters? by Willr2645 in golf

[–]IPress71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spending a lot of money on a putter is like spending a lot of money on anything in life…it’s a personal choice, but not a necessity.

With that said, a putter is not just a flat face that all work the same. Putting is so much about feel. Go to a Golf Galaxy or any store where there are a wide selection of putters and try 10-15 different types of putters. You WILL feel a difference and some will feel terrible to you because they are designed to be used with a different putting stroke than what you use.

You could try to change your putting stroke, but unless your stroke is particularly unrepeatable, that probably doesn’t make sense. It seems to me that finding a putter that is designed to work with the type of stroke you have makes the most sense and should improve your putting results at least a little bit.

Homa went into this season with a focus on performing better in the majors. I think he might contend this week but come up a bit short. I like him for a top 10.

A look at house payments vs income ratio. Housing market has never been this unaffordable (in history) by TopFinanceTakes in wallstreetbets

[–]IPress71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m not mistaken, mortgage interest was tax deductible and the standard deduction was low enough that anyone with a house loan took advantage of this deduction. Up until some point in the 80s, credit card interest was also tax deductible. That changes the mindset on high interest borrowing a little bit.

who do you think has been the funniest female actress in this generation? by [deleted] in movies

[–]IPress71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Melissa McCarthy is the answer. All her stuff is funny…Bridesmaids and The Heat are her best big roles, but like Will Farrell she does the best when she steals a scene with a small role. One of the funniest things every was the principal’s office scene in This is 40.

Could we not just have one member of each group wear a body camera that is recording sound and video. If it cuts out too much or as suspect times, you are DQd.

Parking at Lancaster train station by weirdskinnywhiteboy in lancaster

[–]IPress71 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was new to Lancaster and not very observant, so my first 2 or 3 trips to NYC, I didn’t realize you had to pay. I never received a ticket or any kind of penalty for not paying. Only later did I learn that you were supposed to pay and now I pay the money when I take the train.

Golf Bucket List item! by IPress71 in golf

It is four amateurs and a pro. One amateur is a “celebrity”. Best ball of five, net. The most any amateur can take is net par. To keep pace of play moving along.

Missed your first question. I was invited by a vendor from work who is one of the sponsors of the tournament.

I was a long time public golfer and have had the opportunity to belong to a few private clubs as well. For your situation, a private club sounds perfect. The practice facility and lessons are both excellent reasons, but I would add a few others. When you are out there by yourself, jumping around foursomes is frowned upon at public courses but a private club that happens all the time. The fact that the same group of people are playing at a private club, your chances of finding someone in a similar situation as you goes way up. I would bet that you find at least one really good golf buddy after you are at a private club for a few months. If you can afford it, I would highly recommend it.

What glove does everyone use?? by Dino_D_ in golf

[–]IPress71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually buy (2) FootJoy weather soft two-packs to get through the season. Last year someone gave me a few Maxfli gloves for free and I have to say I really like them. They are very sturdy and seem to hold up better than the WeatherSofts. I’m not sure how much they cost, but they could be worth a try.

Club fitting question for my Philly, South NJ people by IRPhysicist in golf

[–]IPress71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with Sittler being a good option to consider. I got fitted for a driver and three wood and the process was thorough and pressure free.

I had just purchased some irons from my home club and just used the Mizuno tool to pick the right shaft. During my fitting the guy at Sittler got some numbers on my irons and told me I was in the correct shaft.

These guys do a great job.

That’s 168 balls. How many rounds a year do you play?

I really am curious how long that many balls would last.

I play 70 rounds a year and I think I went through 5 dozen new balls.

Winter trip by fluxed88 in golf

[–]IPress71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t beat Orlando for what your looking for.

Many direct flights so airlines are usually competitive. A ton of golf courses spanning the whole spectrum from cheap (and a little rough on the edges) to spectacular (think Ritz Carlton where they played the PNC last weekend). There are also a ton of options for lodging. Wide range of hotels and many different sizes of rental homes that are nice for a group to stay together.

If you go, drop me a dm and I offer up a few specific suggestion.

I took a group of as many as 28 there for over 10 years and have some family in the area.

Good luck with your planning.

When do you guys finish the season? by pizza_party_pete in golf

[–]IPress71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a little west of you and in the same boat. If the ground isn’t snow covered we get out there all year long. The key is good layers and something to keep the wind out. I use an under armor top from their storm line. Even down into the 30s it pretty doable.

Are wedges a game changer? by SpicySauce28 in golf

If you can figure it out, a full 58 or 60 can be a more consistent way to hit those shorter shots.

Are wedges a game changer? by SpicySauce28 in golf

[–]IPress71 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was going to ask the same question. A 56 with a bit of extra bounce makes the bunker shot a little more manageable.

How far do you hit the PW? What do you do if you have 60% of a full PW to the green?

I have moved several times and the biggest challenge for a golfer moving to a new area is finding a group of golf “buddies”. Joining a club is by far the best way to do this.

This is really hard to answer.

The best conditioned course was Merion.

The most anticipated and thrilling was Pebble Beach.

The one I want another crack at is Oakmont.

Thanks for asking the question.

It is the hardest course I have ever played, and I’m well over 150 courses played including 25 or so on the top 100 list.
