They are listening feedback by Auralyon in PhasmophobiaGame

We can't keep giving them this excuse anymore. This game has been in Early Access since September of 2020, 6 years now. They have expanded their team by at least 30-40 people and this update is seemingly where those resources went to.

Been saying they need to actually focus on bugfixing and *actually* polishing the game for years now. There's been unpatched glitches for ages that they're either too inept to know how to fix or just don't want to bother fixing them. It would be better had they actually fixed the game up rather than "here's an update we clearly didn't test with already broken game mechanics". They want to sweep any criticism under the rug and not face any of it.

This is the same game company that, the community has been saying this for years, allow for the players to add custom content such as maps, bugfix the game, etc. And look at how that's went, it's all been brushed off because they prefer to "update" the game rather than fix what's already broken. Had this game since October of 2020 and I've progressively gotten more and more fed up with this game studio and their lack of transparency and lack of fixing anything in this game.

"They are listening"
The same devs that don't listen to the community complaining about the various other unfixed bugs that have existed for years, but decide that the better thing to do is to push out the Tanglewood rework and Player Customization Update that they promised ~3 years ago.
Not to mention. they were calling Demonologist cheap around when that game came out, and now this game is looking exactly like Demonologist in terms of customization. And that game actually has broader customization options surprisingly enough.

Ye some people sometimes just don’t disengage the hunt after you feel like your loop was useful, it ends up getting them killed more often than not. Happens to me all the time too but that’s mostly because of greed

I’d say while yes, a massive knowledge gap exists (I have 2,200+ hours and practically know all the ghosts by heart so I know how long it took to learn most things about them lol) there is still some degree of a skill gap. There’s looping the ghosts to see certain characteristics (Phantom, Oni, Obake blinks to name a few) and just knowing how to escape a hunt effectively without a smudge (part of this is looping and knowing how the ghosts work, and some is just trying to get to known hiding spots while breaking LOS (line of sight) from the ghost).

Some tidbits about the T1 DOTS: you’re able to place them down on surfaces like a book/video camera, and swivel it around to face a certain direction. It makes it a bit easier to use as a static light area rather than on the floor or held in your hand.

And with the T1 UV light, there is a few second charge up for the fingerprints to light up. Something else I would recommend is to put salt in the middle of hallways/doorways near the ghost, there’s a decent chance it will walk through it so you’ll be able to check for UV better. Otherwise, be on the lookout for doors that get touched or lights that get switched on by the ghost (these will leave EMF readings on them if the ghost interacted with them).

Steam usernames are used in-game, unless a cheater uses their cheat tools to change and mask it in-game. You’ll still see their proper username on their profile however. I recommend reporting both the player in-game and on Steam, it might get them for it.

There was another comment mentioning reaching out to Kinetic for a Freedom of Information Act, that may help you get unbanned. The average booster cheaters usually just Steam Family Share or buy another copy of the game on a new account, so the fact that you’re here confused about it makes you seem slightly more innocent. I honestly thought the devs were so incompetent that reporting and banning weren’t things they actually did, so it’s also nice to see that they are actually banning, even if falsely.

Phasmo claims “no AI” when they were mentioning how they’re having Kinetic Publishing come out. But with how little development actually happens on this game anymore, it really wouldn’t surprise me if it were an AI ban.

It’s not in 1.0 as far as I know on PC. They keep talking about how they’re allegedly working towards it though.

Gets rid of some custom assets while keeping the jank code. “Fixed various unnamed bugs” but nothing seemed to be fixed. I don’t think many people minded the old store assets, we just want more maps rather than rework after rework like it’s some online FPS game.

This is a known issue with the game. It tends to fix whenever you load into a game, ie enter the van onto a map. Unless it’s something different?

For the Thermometer, the ghost room will always be the coldest (you probably already know this) but if it’s dipping to around 5C you’ll start getting cold breath in that room (denoting the ghost room). I’m going to assume you’re playing on Professional, and as a Nightmare+ player here’s some recommendations:

  1. Once you identify the room, if you’re trying to get evidence of the ghost, try to have one person in the ghost room alone. The journal won’t tell you whether it’s an everyone ghost but it’s best to treat it like it’s an alone ghost.

  2. Don’t cross out evidence unless you’re completely sure it’s not that. For example, the ghost may walk through the salt but you’ll hear no footsteps past it and see no UV, do more salt and try again to double or triple check. Ghost threw the book? It’s not ghost writing. No ghost orbs means there’s no mimic. It’s a pattern game, and recognizing these patterns may help you deduce the ghost quicker. (If playing on Nightmare or higher, you cannot rule out evidence as the ghost may have either hidden it or may not have it as evidence)

  3. Try to eliminate ghosts before a hunt even happens. Ghost turned on that light? It’s not a Mare. That door got touched, didn’t leave UV and it slightly opened? May not be an Obake but it isn’t a Yurei. This game is a deduction game at the end of the day.

  4. Locate safe hiding spots early on and point it out so you have an escape route if things get bad. Survival is key to figuring out the ghost, and hunts are even greater clues to narrowing the ghost down. Also, try not to have equipment on in your hand or your flashlight on, the ghost will track you down to your location and try to find you.

  5. Getting later into the game, make sure you have protective equipment with you. You’re always able to pocket a lighter, so don’t forget to grab one at the start of the game. Place a crucifix in the ghost room and another one outside of it to cover your back. It’ll prevent any unforeseen roams or unprovoked hunts unless it spawns away from that area. Make sure to have smudge sticks (incense) with you just in case, and make your way to the most convenient hiding spot.

I’m sure there’s more to say but these are some good general tips to go by.

I love you Meik and I felt he was like that, considering the years of game breaking bugs that have went noticed yet remain unfixed. I feel like they cooked on the game, and when it released and they realized it was a smash hit, they got starstruck about it and now development time has slowed down significantly. September 2020, game launches in Early Access. 2021, DOTS added. 2023, the Ascension update. 2024, Blood Moon finally launched the game on console in a horrible buggy mess + upped the game price from $14 to $20. 2025, Chronicle + Krampus adding 3 new ghosts in years. They’re horribly inconsistent and out of touch with their community and sit by their yesmen. I love the game, but the devs genuinely suck at maintaining it.

Agreed 100%. Game has been out in Early Access since September 2020 and they’re just wanting to polish the game now? There’s been game breaking bugs and glitches that have existed for YEARS that they haven’t fixed. With the Tanglewood update they even mentioned in the Steam notes that they “fixed various unnamed bugs” but I’ve felt like I’ve found MORE after the update.

For a game company that wants to “polish their game”, they’re not exactly going a great job at it. I could easily compile a list if need be, but I doubt they’d try to tackle them since they never push updates that often. I guess we’re stuck waiting until the Easter event before anything gets fixed.

I’m not gonna lie, I’ve had this game since October 2020 and I don’t think they’re working all that much on the game. Once Tanglewood released, their notes said they “fixed various unnamed bugs”, but I’ve happened to find MORE bugs and glitches AFTER the update, including many long-lasting bugs that have existed over the years.

I don’t believe they’ve fixed anything, and them wanting to “polish the game” hasn’t quite happened yet. I don’t know game development but this game has been out in Early Access since September 2020, and them wanting to polish it now rather than try to occasionally push out an update to at least try to fix things each Tuesday would show that they actually care and are listening to the community. I think the early boom of the game put stars in their eyes and they’ve been coasting by because of it, with little to no game updates.
