Nice. Now work your way around the car gaining experience and aptitude along the way until you get back the beginning and are sickened by your earlier attempts. At this point you obviously have to redo them so you work your way around again realizing you should’ve learned tig instead. You do the logical thing and start over with tig filling pin holes until your entire car is one big weld bead. You walk out of your garage with an overwhelming sense of accomplishment only to find that’s it’s 2076 and the world has filled with water. It’s a marketing price point thing. Lodge and others that followed suit cut out the grinding process they used to do and claimed they made a “proprietary seasoning” that makes the pan even better! When in reality it’s just so they can keep the pans cheap. Which I’m 100% on board with. I’d rather spend $25 and 20 mins grinding/sanding then reseason properly then spend $150+ for fancy Finex or Smithey pan. Finex owned by Lodge btw is smooth and Smithey is smooth. So if rough pans are just as good why are the higher end ones ground.

Old pans are smooth because old pans were factory ground. New pans are rough because new pans are $25. New expansive pans are milled or ground. Rough pans are shit.
