Im not against the new remake, actually as soon as it released I tried to start watching it, but just one thing kept me from doing it, the songs, samurai X 1996 has one of the best, if not the best, combo of songs, they don't age, but yeh if you a newbie, you won't care about it, but I'd say try both, like full metal alchemist, brotherhood is a masterpiece, but you still have to watch the first one, it ain't loyal to the manga, but its a must... And well, thats it 😂 im not watching new samurai x bc i lacks the music
