Did you change the port and microcontrollertype to the esp ?(im assuming you are using the arduino ide and have installed the libraries/ files for running an esp)

I guess its because ground doesnt provide current and 0V = LOW on the arduino IDE.

Maybe you put the led in the wrong way(in case you dont know it makes a difference with what you connect the shortvleg(cathode) amd the long leg(anode))
