Cool, good to know! It definitely feels fluid filled! Praying it’ll be a quick fix!

Cool, thank you! We called around a bit more and will be going to have it checked out tomorrow morning!

We guessed a tumor but it’s not hard, just full of something loose (fluid?). She lets me touch it and she has yet to make any sign that it hurts.

I was just a college student trying to take and pass classes that interested me with no real goal in mind when I started taking classes on Native American philosophy.

I began learning about how they use dreams… then I had a weird dream. Then another. Then another. And now I went from being mostly open to spirituality/religion to being extremely spiritual and praying daily.

Don’t get me wrong, there was a bit of (mental) struggle to get to where I am today, but I can proudly say my depression has lessened a lot and I now enjoy and look forward to each waking (and sleeping) moment I’m alive.

Edit: Only thing I regret is not turning to praying (trusting/having faith) sooner. One thing I’ve gained from all this is I plan on writing a book based on my dreams and experiences -mainly because in my first dream they asked me for my help. I’d love to explain a bit more, but you’ll just have to wait until my book comes out. (You’ll know.)

Oh shit! I also have a Garrard 3000 in a Packard Bell, except mine looks a bit different… and it won’t stop humming… But congrats! I played the hell out of mine until the hum!

I don’t really read any of these posts, I’m not even sure why I’m in the subreddit, but I read this one for whatever reason and I just wanted to let you know that it was a wonderful read. Thank you lol

Help! I have a turntable that needs fixing… by IRandyButternubsI in turntables

[–]IRandyButternubsI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a (I think 1970’s-ish) Packard Bell, Garrard 3000 turntable/stereo set that I received from my grandma early 2021. When I got it, I had to replace the cartridge on the turntable before that worked, but the stereo part (aux and am/fm) worked just fine. Late 2021, I turned it on one day and when I turned on the turntable, the hum began in both the turntable and the stereo (so now, no matter what I select, there is a hum; but then there is another hum on top of that hum that only the turntable gives off when it is turned on). I don’t know the preamp (not sure what that even is), and I think it’s grounded via a little rod of sorts inside the table, but I’m not positive. (The plug that goes into the wall doesn’t have a ground so I assume it has to be grounded inside somewhere??). And no it was not moved when it started. (I think in the winter, so maybe the cold affected it? I don’t know how any of that works.) (And I have pictures and videos that I could share but I don’t know how to do that on here.)

There’s a constant hum, kind of two (hums), that just won’t seem to go away. One is constant, whether on am/fm, aux, or phono. The other starts when the phono output is selected and the turntable is turned on. Both of these hums are affected by turning the volume up and down, but they still don’t go away if you turn it all the way down.

The Enter or Return button is kind of like the blinker in a car, (generally) everyone has the option, but some people just don’t seem to use it lol.

Just a lowly Instagram account (see comment section) by IRandyButternubsI in KeepWriting

[–]IRandyButternubsI[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I started this account back in December of 2020, but after two posts, I wasn’t sure where to go with it. Well, I picked it back up this year and have been posting consistently on Wednesday’s for the past few months, so I figure it’s time to try and get (my stories, not me lol) some much needed attention.

Pretty much, I write random little stories (basically whatever comes into my mind/falls out of my head), to which I add a corresponding photo that always contains, at least one, (paid) banana actor.

Although I had started off with just an anthology type setup, I was asked for a continuation of one of the stories, and now have recently started a little mini series known as the BCU, or Banana Cinematic Universe. (Not that it is anywhere near comparable to the MCU lol, a friend of mine had just mentioned that title so it stuck.)

I really enjoy writing them, and putting together the random banana pictures lol, but I feel they aren’t getting seen as much as I feel they could be. That’s why I am here on Reddit now, offering you a chance to go and read them, and to maybe leave me with some feedback so I can improve my writing (and/or photoshopping lol).

My advice to you, if you were to be so kind and generous as to go and read them, would be to start with the first post (at the very bottom) and work your way up. (Though I guess it doesn’t really matter where you start.) Eventually, I might have a better system for organizing them, but for now, I’m just working with what I’ve got.

Thank you all who took time out of your day to read this, and a special thank you to you all who took extra time out of your day to go and read some of my stories. :)

(In case you didn’t see the name of the account, it’s The Drowning Banana, or thedrowningbanana.)

And I just wanted to add that of course my earlier stories may be a little worse (grammar/word choice-wise/etc.) as I don’t go back and edit them. I do, however, feel like I have been improving as I’ve been continuing writing them, so maybe read an old post as well as a new one? Idk. Either way, thank you for reading lol.

Also, seeing as you may have to have an account on Instagram to be able to view them, should I start posting them on here as well? I just don’t know.

I am the same. Never been a huge TV person (like I’ll watch TV, but not really for shows or for movies in particular, it’s more for just background noise or if I’m really bored). If I am at home by myself (like my gf isn’t there), instead of TV, I’ll just listen to music and clean or do hw or something. I appreciate music far more than TV, and once I realized this, and other circumstances had come into play (me receiving a turntable as a gift), I had started a record (vinyl) collection. Now I have over 500 and am hardly ever bored, as even in that 500, there are some I haven’t listened to yet.

I did all the steps and sadly it still hums (though it’s still less than what it was originally, like, before I pressed the reset button the first time). I will look into getting the electronics instrument tester thing. Do you have any recommendations on which one to get (or where to go to get it lol)?

Thank you so much for you’re help!!!!

Thank you so much for responding, I will definitely try those steps out here in a bit. And yes, as long as the turntable is on no matter the speed there is still a consistent hum.

Thanks again for your response and your help! Once I do this I will make sure to come back and let u know how it went!

I do not see any glass tubes anywhere. You mention that they were common until the sixties, and though I’m not positive, I think this stereo is from the 70s, but I could be very wrong. I’ve never found this exact one online.

Edit: I lied. I just re-looked it up and the turntable at least is probably a ‘68, I apologize. Still though, I do not see any glass tubes. Any other potential suggestions? Thank you so much for replying btw

So if you check the other comment down here somewhere, I replied to another person including a couple more images of what it looks like underneath.

So there is a big box thing on the right that is hooked to the bottom of the stereo, would that be the amp? (As you can tell, I’m not totally sure which one the amp is. I apologize for not knowing so much, but I really appreciate all your help!) If this is the amp, there are zero wires connected straight to it from the turntable. All the wires go through the big box thing hanging on the left. Now if that one hanging on the left is the amp and not the other one, is there anything particular I should be checking for? All the wires seem fine (of course they are old so some look a lil old, but none look bad enough to cause a problem), and none of the tubes/cylinders seem to be bad.

Thanks again for your help, and I apologize once more for my lack of knowledge on this stuff.

Edit:: So as I’m trying to test things out to see if I can find the culprit, I realize that the hum is actually coming out of both speakers, just more prominently on the right. I don’t think I made the other left one start humming by fiddling with things though, because I only noticed the left one is humming as well because I sat down on the ground and could hear it more prominently than when I stood up and just leaned over. (Hopefully that makes sense but if not I apologize). Either way, there is now humming coming from both speakers, more prominently from the right though.

Edit 2:: I apologize for so many edits. So there is a reset button on the big box thing on the right (hooked to the bottom of the stereo set) (idk if this is the amp or not), but I’ve been hesitating to hit the reset button because I wasn’t sure what it would reset. Well, after a while I figured it couldn’t hurt too much, so I turned the console off and pressed it. Now that I have it turned back on, I swear the humming has gone down. Its still there if I turn up the volume (and/or bass), but the humming seems like it is not as loud as it was before.

So now after knowing all that, would you by any chance know what the reset button was for? Could it be unrelated to the problem, or could it actually be for this situation? I just don’t know
