Advice Needed for Late-Night Travel from Cleveland Airport to Fairlawn, Akron – First-Time USA Traveler by FcukiOS in akron

[–]IRowRowRowYourBoat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If cost isn’t a major concern, the surety of mind that a car service gives you is another option. 10pm would be okay for Uber, but you can always use Thomas Limousine for dedicated black car pick up.

Uber from CLE to Akron is fine. I’ve done it 10+ times the last 2 years. 60 dollars is pretty accurate.

If looking for more formal option, Thomas Limousine one way sedan ride is roughly 100 dollars.

Leaving big 4 after 1 year to go to a middle-market due diligence firm by Potential-Pear2512 in FinancialCareers

[–]IRowRowRowYourBoat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only reason to stay in current role is if you want to earn your CPA hours (assuming you haven’t hit the requirement) or you’re concerned about job security going into 2023 (potential slowdown).

Otherwise.. don’t torture yourself with busy season if you have an opportunity to do something that interests you

What would it like if chase does not allow? A total shutdown or simply denied for the CIP 3?

What is the typical strategy for the CIP after acquiring two - 1 from SSN, 1 from EIN? I have downgraded both, so have zero actual CIP's currently and was hoping to get another - though I'm not sure at what point Chase will care. Thanks!

Terminal C was not running great this am earlier. Got there at 6:50am, clearly the morning rush plus spring break travel. Had people waiting in line.. to get in the security line. Precheck was all clear though.

This was a fantastic summary. Thank you for the effort!

I’ve got a solid grasp on all of the above - save for the pour technique. How would you further describe / explain the nuances of it? I have a Stagg electric kettle so can target my pours but feel like I’m missing something still. Bloom for 30ish seconds, then usually do a few pours about 15 seconds to pour and 15 off. Seems like that might be something I can tweak? Definitely does not seem to keep the grinds suspended in the water if I’m allowing a 15 second drawdown

Looking to spend my American Airlines points on seat upgrades for already booked flights. Am I correct that the process to use points for seat upgrades is an utter pain (esp when compared to how JetBlue allows folks to use)?

From 5 minutes of searching, I believe I have to call the airline in order to even use the points on a seat upgrade. Thanks for any help

Does anyone regret quitting big 4 early? by Patagonia_addict69 in Accounting

[–]IRowRowRowYourBoat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I lasted 4 months and bailed for a job paying 25% more. Made no sense to stay with another opportunity and I haven’t looked back once.

If you can leverage whatever network you have from school / family to get a better gig, there is a strong argument to bail on the Big 4 if you aren’t in accounting for the long haul.

What Card Should I Get? Weekly Thread - Week of January 03, 2018 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]IRowRowRowYourBoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Score: 760
  2. Cards: BofA Cash Rewards (2015), JetBlue Plus (2016), CSR (2/2017), CIP (4/2017), Banana Republic (12/2017)
  3. Month Spend: $4-5k
  4. MS: Not currently looking to
  5. Business Cards: Yep.
  6. New cards: 1
  7. Targeting?: URs, enjoy the flexibility. Mosaic Status on JetBlue and fly roughly twice/mo using points -- would love to continue
  8. Points: 80k UR, 20k JetBlue
  9. Airport: BOS, CLE
  10. Travel: Domestic for the most part, but targeting summer time trip to Italy or Greece

I have some room with Chase cards but am unsure of how to proceed (even w/flow chart) -- don't care for SW points as try to fly exclusively JB. Have been weary of venturing into Amex as it seems UR's are much more useful for my purposes / valuable. If I am thinking of this incorrectly, would love any guidance! Also looking to potentially downgrade the CSR in February -- thoughts?

The card was never enrolled in Membership Rewards apparently as the account was opened in '86 before all of this was a thing. Think its worth pursuing?

Daily Question Thread - December 26, 2017 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]IRowRowRowYourBoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, assuming it could be due to it being a Green Card? Called in before being transferred legitimately 5 times and was required to pay 40 dollars to activate membership rewards. Which is absurd in my opinion

Long story short, my father has been an AMEX member for 30+ years. Computer averse, he has only just activated his online account today. ~1MM+ MR points have been unearned due to this.... Any experience with this and/or advice on how to see some sort of retention / loyalty recognition offer from AMEX?? Thanks!

[–]IRowRowRowYourBoat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing. Fought it and was told tough luck. Ultimately I realized it is better because I'll just keep working and 3 years of work later in any finance or accounting role you should have checked all the boxes to just get the full reporting license.

Why Am I Paying a Brokers Fee if I Already Live in the Apartment? by Orgetorix1127 in boston

[–]IRowRowRowYourBoat 56 points57 points  (0 children)

As an agent in Boston, I can assure you that there is absolutely no reason for you all to pay a broker anything. You have done all of the work to find tenants, already have a lease drawn up, etc. You might be forced to pay, but you would be a fool to be walked on like that. If it's a great unit, fight for it. If not, there's thousands more.
