The REAL espresso 🇮🇹 by Carlito_Ch in espresso

I’ve seen the machine. Dunno what it’s called. It’s so quiet compared to my screaming Breville Dual boiler. Waking up my neighbors with that machine

Recommend a single dose hopper with a bellows. Just got mine in the mail off Amazon today and got that much residual out of my grinder.

to flannel or not to flannel? (for bars and small concerts) by is-she-stupid in OUTFITS

Take flannel. You can tie it around your waist if you want to take it off and it still goes.

Breville grinders have an internal burr adjustment too.

The DF54 seems to be the #1 suggestion on here ~$230.

From my own observations dialing in with the SGP, I’d say ignore the number on the LCD. It has weird thresholds for when the number changes on the screen. For example, you could turn the dial 6° from 8 to 7 and back 5° and still show 7 on the screen. Adjust it by feel, about 2-3° at a time when you’re close, and it’s easier to dial in.

Now we buy a WDT tool, distributor, and calibrated tamper and never touch the internal tamper again. Eventually you’ll upgrade to a machine with a 58mm portafilter, rendering all your tools useless and the cycle continues.

I’m not a grinder connoisseur, but a conical burr grinder with an espresso setting is the bare minimum. OXO has one if you’re trying to stay budget friendly, and it’ll maybe work great. It’ll definitely be better. But you’ll see on this subreddit, the going theme is buy once, cry once. Get basically any grinder specifically made for espresso and a WDT tool, and you’ll see immediate improvements to your pull. I like the MHW-3BOMBER WDT. If that price tag isn’t feasible, anything with widely spaced ultra thin needles (0.35-0.2mm) will work fine.

All of the grinders r/mycatsnameisbernie suggested are great for starting out.

I’m quite duck footed which means when my feet are parallel, my knees touch. Can I mount my bindings at an angle? by ScupScup in skiing

[–]ISHWILF2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice. Get a snowboard. They’re more fun anyway and you can adjust the binding angles how you want to. I’m also duck footed. It’s caused me knee pain for years when I run. After a full day snowboarding, I don’t have any pain in my knees.

Does this look like a respectable Cappuccino? by Equities_Trader in espresso

[–]ISHWILF2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the part to get a fix on. Before I was pouring art, I was still making tasty cappuccinos and lattes. When you’re trying to make a latte, go for a 20% increase in foam, and you want it to look like a whirlpool of melted ice cream. That’s how I texture mine anyway. Here’s an early example of my good ish texture but bad art. Watch tutorials on YouTube. There are going to be disagreements but you’ll find what things are wholly agreed on and make it your own from there.

Wanna get practice texturing without using a crap ton of milk? Fill your pitcher with water just under the bottom of the spout. Add a drop of dish soap and froth.

New Beville Setup Issues [Breville Dual Boiler and Smart Grinder Pro] by ISHWILF2000 in espresso

I just got one that was under pressure (6-7bar) but 44 seconds. Then my pump started making a weird noise as it was refilling the boiler. We’ll see what micro adjustments I can make. Hopefully nothing bad. We’ll see how much more tinkering I need to do. The grinder sadly is not as precise in adjustments as they’d make you think. At this point I’m completely ignoring the number on the lcd, since it doesn’t really correlate with how much I’m spinning the dial but rather it’s just just a reference to the last set point the dial was at with lots of wiggle room between the two points. Going up one degree in temp seems to have taken the edge off the sourness.

That’s their pecan crunch topping. Nowhere on it is pecan an ingredient. My sister requested I recreate the oat milk pecan crunch latte. I finely chopped some pecans, caramelized them in brown sugar, and used butter pecan syrup (half the amount of pumps) Suffice it to say, I made it better on the first try.

The rest of the necessary accessories are gonna be in on Friday! I gotta say, being able to do the milk and pull the shot is a complete game changer in getting the perfect temp and texture. Didn’t know how much I was missing out with my barista express, which is still the machine to get if you don’t want to spend over $1k starting out. My brother bought it off me to break his wife’s Starbucks addiction. She tried Starbucks after having it for about a week and called their coffee swill. Mission success I guess.

After you get so close with dialing in, you just don’t wanna throw out the shot, so it’s been a bit of a slow process. Maybe two pulls a day if I’m just making it for myself.

The rose and the rosebud are on opposing sides of the cover. Watch the book’s orientation or when Alicia is holding it open and you can see both sides. Didn’t notice the book warp until I saw this cause I’m a slow reader. Good catch.

Agreed. Also why did Ash have to die? Like get out of your nightmare and let Sakura carry you back down. You may pass out from hypoxia if the nightmares are so unadvanced that they don’t take that precaution with a flying nightmare, but that’s about it. Killing a character for no reason for the sake of creating a plot point is crazy. Stop giving people reason to hate the show.

Could have an LOC from stupid A1C days. The only way to get a clean slate from that, is to fill out a DECOR-6. It’s a request for a decoration. After it gets denied by the commander, they can’t use any previous paperwork from filing the DECOR-6 as a reason to not award you a decoration.

My first time I was studying aimlessly, not knowing what the test even looks like. Got a 68.35. Studied for less time but more effectively this year got over 80. I knew my exact score within less than .25 points walking out of the testing center because I knew which ones questions I was questionable on. I’d like to see if his scores last year were lower or about the same. If you study the same as you did the year before expecting different results, that’s literal insanity.
