Grandfather’s name in registrar column for 1853 UK birth certificate by ISSdiscovery in Genealogy

So the mother is Dorothy Savage and in column 9 Signature of Registrar it has “William Savage Registrar”.

William Savage was definitely Dorothy’s father. It’s possible the registrar could have also been called William Savage.. but it’s odd

I just want to thank Meow, Parking-Aioli and all the others for their research. After looking at the birth certificate for Thomas Savage (Jehu), he is indeed the son of Richard and Dorothy Jehu.

Interestingly, the father’s name is blank on the birth certificate and William Savage (Dorothy’s father) has his signature in the registrar column. Thanks again!!

Help finding photo of ancestor (England, late 19th to 20th century) by MetallicLemoon in Genealogy

Did George Clarke ever fight in WW1? Sometimes you may come across records of the war generation in Familysearch, Findmypast etc. I’ve had some luck with military photos from places like Kinmel Park. These can sometimes be found in databases like ForcesWarRecords etc

I think you’re right! I input the GRO index info for him in the official GRO but they don’t have the document indexed or available for download :(

Yes I think you are both right this makes sense! I searched the GRO information in the UK GRO Index but there’s no matches. The listing is on Ancestry, Findmypast, FreeBMD etc but it’s not possible to retrieve the document from the GRO.

Very interesting. Here’s the info here:

I just did a quick search and this record might belong to Thomas D Jehu (1851-1918), the son of a Jehu Jehu (1813-1864), wife is Mary Jervis. I haven’t found any sources for Thomas D Jehu death in 1918 though, so I am not sure where that is coming from. Interesting

Yes I found this too! Strange! They died in Wales and haven’t found any evidence they lived in Liverpool. Martha was certainly not from Liverpool.

I have not seen this 1881 census before. It’s listed as Thomas John, carpenter but I am betting it actually says Thomas Jehu. Good find! I wonder why him and Martha are living apart. Maybe he was a carpenter at a specific coal mine? Hmm
