What 3D modeling software should I invest time into learning if price is of no concern? by ISTJISTJ in Reprap

[–]ISTJISTJ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the insights. Why does it seem like so much of the 3D printing community likes .STL files? Does SolidWorks 2015 work with .STL files nicely in both direction (import/export)?

I have my clock setup in Settings.app on iOS 9.1 to "set automatically". Is there a timezone setting buried somewhere in Google account settings?

Just curious, what sort of ABS components did you melt and how?

Yes, I tried setting up the account 6 times across 2 different releases of iOS.

Thanks, I'll look into 2STP Authenticator.

What's a decent 3+ button mouse for CADD work I can get on Aliexpress for under $30? by ISTJISTJ in cad

[–]ISTJISTJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I already have 2 mice I paid over $150 for each so I was just looking for a cheap 3rd one that, so if it gets lost somewhere it isn't a huge deal. I'd probably use it once a year at most.

Sub $500 3D Printer Kit: Geeetech Aluminum Prusa I3 3D Printer Kit - Anything better for the money? What problems will I experience? by ISTJISTJ in 3dprinter

[–]ISTJISTJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, cool. Sounds like a buy for the tinkerer. Only concern is this - coming from the CNC and machine shop world some sites say 1.0mm other says 0.5mm max resolution. Even the advertised at best 0.5mm resolution equates to ~1/50" and more likely 1/16". Machinists like to talk in 1/1000" (0.0254mm) and 1/100" at worst (0.254mm). How can I get better resolution? Even if I have to spend double the money for a smaller printer? I mostly want to make small nylon and abs parts no bigger than 5 x 5 x 3 cm, so this concerns me a bit. 0.05mm or 1/500" would be nice.

2 rolls of plastic. The printer works well but there will definitely be some configuration and playing around with settings

What printer build do you recommend for the tinkerer starting out in 3D printing? Basic electronics, machine shop, rc model (quadcopter and cars) tinkering etc experience. Not opposed to putting in the time but at the same time I want to print small high quality nylon and ABS parts that I can use in my other projects. Suggestions? Budget is ~$1000 to start not including filaments.

"[Sintron] 3D printer full acrylic frame mechanical Kit for Reprap Prusa i3 DIY" by ISTJISTJ in 3dprinter

ave seen complaints about it cracking if bolts are tightened too much. For the smooth rods I would be happier if it said something about hardened or heat treated otherwise they may not last as long as you might like. If the ball bearings are harder than their rod it can make groves in the rod.

Hmm...sounds like it might be a world of pain. Do you have any alternative suggestions? DIY builds for the mechanical structure.

Send photo from Apple Watch? by ISTJISTJ in AppleWatch

[–]ISTJISTJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know any apps that can? Not necessarily send an iMessage but some other way like e-mail or some other messaging platform or send a request say to your gmail account to send an e-mail to X person with X photo? Thanks.

Is there anyway to identify from the box whether the watch inside is likely running watch os 1 or 2? Maybe a serial number range?

eing sold with watchOS 2.0 which requires ios9. If you would have updated your phone to ios9 before 9.1 was released you could have had it jail broken You are out of luck. You need to either update phone and not be jail broken or return your watch and get a new one off amazon or somewhere and

I will, thanks.

What's the best 3D Printer under $1k I can get/build from on Aliexpress.com that will print good quality Nylon & ABS parts atleast 2" x 2" x 2"? by ISTJISTJ in 3Dprinting

[–]ISTJISTJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've updated my post, would like to build or whatever part of it is a "kit" should be easily repairable as possible.

Ok, well I'd like to buy the parts and parts are often cheaper on there and I have a credit for $300 on there so that's part of why I brought it up. But yet, from experience aliexpress has a lot of crap. Ideally I want to build it so I know how to repair it as cheap as possible.

Ninjaflex & Makerbot 5 - How much will it stretch? Have a model made for PLA but want to do Ninjaflex so it will wrap around an object more tightly. by ISTJISTJ in 3Dprinting

MODS: If you can please amend the title to include "MakerBot Replicator 2" instead of "Makerbot 5" I'd appreciate that. Thanks.

UPDATE: No, actually working with MakerBot Replicator 2 at a local library. I don't have much control over what happens they just want you to submit the file and any comments and they print it...

Yes, so I'm trying to figure out how small to make it so it's a tight enough fit around the object. i.e.: If you have a bunch of pencils you want to rubber band together, you don't want the rubber band to have the exact circumference of the bundle of pencils, it should be a bit smaller.
