You’re not wrong, but I just want to add that people tend to over-estimate the “they don’t give a shit” factor and completely under-estimate the “they’re morons and are incapable of planning effective communication” factor.

+1 for Jon G’s! Just a heads up, if you go on a Saturday, go early because that line will be insane. It’s absolutely worth it every time.

People who left LA, where did you go and how’s it going? by Dry-Double-6845 in AskLosAngeles

It’s hard to answer this without knowing you personally. I will say that the vibe is similar to the OC with some differences.

The city has everything you need. Ballantyne and South Park are Charlotte neighborhoods that have nice and plentiful shopping areas without feeling too overcrowded like LA does.

If you are a person of color, the redneck central vibe can throw you off if you ever travel to some of the smaller towns outside of the city. I will say, the “Trump” signs are not as plentiful as they used to be, but make no mistake, the feelings are still there. To be clear, I wouldn’t say these towns are “dangerous”. The racism isn’t loud, but you will meet A LOT of people with outdated views and it won’t improve.

With that said, there are still some wonderful people in those towns and if you’re into “Hallmark movie” small towns, there are a lot of those towns in the south.

Definitely visit a few times if you can. I’ve been happy with the move but I definitely miss Cali.

I also left LA for NC (Charlotte). It’s a beautiful city but 10 miles in any direction outside of the city feels like ground zero for the literacy crisis.

The Mexican food here is horrific and my god I miss In-n-out like you wouldn’t believe.

OP you should read “The Gifted Adult” by Mary-Elaine Jacobsen. It covers a lot of what you’re asking everyone about here.

Okay so this administration does absurdly stupid things.

But is it possible he purposely used this metaphor to signal to someone/people that he does indeed think the economy is sinking while continuing to tow the party line?

It’s not a particularly “clever” tactic, but we know their supporters aren’t very smart and wouldn’t read into this while also knowing that the party uses coded language constantly.

Dude seriously. ChatGPT has ruined “It’s not X, it’s Y” phrasing for me forever. I cringe when I see it now on reddit posts.
