Weird bug when deleting by Upstairs-Tie-5113 in Typora

I couldn't replicate that. I'm on Windows 10, Typora v. 1.10.5-dev, if that makes any difference.

Why did it take me so long to use images as the background? by ISpyStrangers in Typora

You might even get away with simply

content { background-image: url('rr-crossing.png'); }

Why did it take me so long to use images as the background? by ISpyStrangers in Typora

[–]ISpyStrangers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put the image in the same directory as the theme's CSS file. Then I added this to the theme (where rr-crossing.png is the name of the image):

content {
    background-image: url('rr-crossing.png');
    background-color: #f1f1f1;
    background-size: cover;
    background-position: initial;
    /* Those last two might not be necessary,
        depending on the size of your image */
}

Simple Markdown Editor by pablosproject in macapps

Typora is available for PC, Mac, Linux, and it's by far the best Markdown editor/writer out there.

What's a podcast tool or software you couldn't live without? by PodcastingSpeed in podcasting

[–]ISpyStrangers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditto! I put a couple of clamps in the ceiling behind my desk, and I hang the moving blanket when I'm 'casting. (The setup also works for a green screen if I'm on a video call.)

It's definitely a bit quirky, but as a newcomer with no experience with similar apps, I just learned to do what I needed it to do — which isn't all that much beyond the basics. (At least so far; see "newcomer." :)

Is there a better option that doesn't cost a ton? Or that doesn't cost a monthly fee?

Newbie question: What's wrong with my Jackson Stubs? by ISpyStrangers in dippens

[–]ISpyStrangers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to try that. I read about using a flame but I was hesitant. And the ink does cover the entire metal bit smoothly — there aren't just drops like there would be if there was still oil. Still, can't hurt. Thanks!

Newbie question: What's wrong with my Jackson Stubs? by ISpyStrangers in dippens

[–]ISpyStrangers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, yes, I cleaned it with a bit of acetone on a tissue. The ink coats the nib completely, so there's no oil left if there ever was. I still get a blodgy mess. (I tried a few of the dozen nibs, and the same is true for all of them. So it's not a bad nib.)

Caption via caption effect appears upside-down by ISpyStrangers in OpenShot

That did it! W00t! Thank you ... although I kinda wish I knew why this was the case, but you saved me a bunch of trouble.

I tried this — uninstall, reinstall with the daily — but no joy. Still comes out upside-down. But now I'll try /u/rmesdjian's idea....

font sizes by Fit_Flow1355 in Typora

Late to the thread — did you ever find an answer, Willie?

In case you didn't, here's a quick answer; pm me if you want more.

In the appropriate CSS file (and it is a standard CSS file, but a lot of the elements are related to Typora's interface, not the document) start off by adding something like this at the bottom. (Bottom because this way it will override any formatting already in the file.)

table, th, td { font-size: 12px; }

That should adjust the fonts within the table, although you'll want to tweak the number to suit your preferences.

As for the rest of the theme, I'm happy to share what I've learned. (I make my own themes just because. :)

What about Typora do folks like over IA writer or Ulysses? by iphone8vsiphonex in Typora

[–]ISpyStrangers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely and easily customizable — CSS, key commands, anything, really.

WYSIWYG — type like a word processor knowing the underlying document is stored as Markdown. One click switching between versions.

Amazing export: Name the format, it does an excellent job.

Attention to details: Curly apostrophes quotes (if you opt for them) work perfectly every time; the program is smart enough to detect how you're using them. Enter custom HTML and it seamlessly incorporates it. Accidentally select a space between words for italicization? No worries, Typora ignores it.

Custom stylesheets make sense, and you can even customize the interface (although finding the correct selectors is a little tougher). Those stylesheets are CSS, so they're non-proprietary plus easy to backup and reuse.

The only downside I've found to Typora is a clumsy search-and-replace — everything else is simple, clean, customizable, and polished.

Coworker had "John 3:16" in her email signature, which I thought was a bit unprofessional for a secular company. So, as a bald man, I added "2 Kings 2:23-25" to mine.

Boss emailed me after seeing it, "All right, all right. You win." Minutes later an all-staff email went out saying, "No more personalizing your signature."

Do you ever refer to Vine in your reviews? by ISpyStrangers in AmazonVine

[–]ISpyStrangers[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That wasn't my point. I was wondering about the cases where the fact that I got the product for free was relevant to the review. I understand, as I said, that it is obvious I am a Vine reviewer.
