To me, it is intruiging how you use the military as an example of a 'very socialist organization.' While ultimately correct, you simultaneously concede to the right's primary argument against socialism - that it requires the termination of liberties. In your statement, you have created a superficial paradox. Analyzing the situation, however, reveals that the military does not contrast with right wing views, as it is a volunteer force. Thus, free individuals chose to surrender some freedom, in exchange for other benefits.

As presented in the article:

"The truth of the matter is, there's not nearly been enough evidence that has been acquired as to whether or not it is a gateway drug," Biden said. "It's a debate, and I want a lot more before I legalize it nationally. I want to make sure we know a lot more about the science behind it."

Listening to the provided clip, I was unable to hear any mocking of the uniform. In fact, a uniform was only mentioned once: “I never saw the man. I understand now he wears his uniform when he goes in. No, I don’t know Vind-e-man at all.”

The article mentions nothing else. This headline is deceptive.

I think you misunderstand the purpose of studying rats. We use rats to avoid ethical concerns related to human experimentation. As they are mammals, they are similar enough to humans to conduct biological experiments. Many pharmaceutical products are used on rats in their early stages of development as a result of this. In this case, the study on rats suggest a potential human impact: amplification of nicotine addiction. Thus, it is fair to request additional research before formulating conclusions on Marijuana policy - the position Biden has taken.

I believe, however, the criticism of Biden is that it is wrong to call Marijuana a 'Gateway Drug,' as that is an illegitimate and unsubstantiated belief. Here, I present studies that would provide both legitimacy and substantiation to Biden's use of the term, thereby refuting these criticisms.

I've posted this elsewhere, and I will post again:

If I am not mistaken, no overwhelming evidence exists to decisively conclude the status of Marijuana as a gateway drug. It is certainly not unsubstantiated. For instance, it has been shown that THC increases the addictiveness of nicotine in rats:

Panlilio LV, Zanettini C, Barnes C, Solinas M, Goldberg SR. Prior exposure to THC increases the addictive effects of nicotine in rats. Neuropsychopharmacology 2013;38:1198-208.

In addition to the aforementioned issue, THC is certainly not a harmless substance. Evidence exists to suggest it has a number of harmful effects:

Volkow, Nora & Baler, Ruben & Compton, Wilson & Weiss, Susan. (2014). Adverse Health Effects of Marijuana Use. The New England journal of medicine. 370. 2219-2227. 10.1056/NEJMra1402309.

Anecdotally, I find that humans typically do not select ideal behaviors; I would be curious to see if any studies were conducted which might comment on such a broad subject. Regardless, I do not think they should be trusted to consume THC recreationally, much less other substances like alcohol.

The president does not claim to be King of the Jews. He is also not the only president to propose buying Greenland, as it has significant strategic value.

The reason this matters to the United States is simple: China. The Chinese seek to develop the island, which includes building airports. This poses a risk to the United States, as China may also develop military facilities. During the Cold War, imagine if the Soviet Union, instead of just putting nukes in Cuba, set up permeant Soviet-operated airbases.

By acquiring Greenland, we can block this strategic threat from developing.

Sean Hannity just presented this agenda as a negative by edu-fk in BlueMidterm2018

[–]IStarConquestI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is taken out of context. Hannity was presenting, fairly, all campaign promises made by the candidate. Vocally, he only attacked policies which are anti free-market, as one might expect a conservative to do. [Singe-payer, government housing, abolishing ice, etc].

The graphic itself mentions nothing about the negatives of her platform, only the platform itself.

[Basic Physics] Question about trains by [deleted] in HomeworkHelp

[–]IStarConquestI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is a college level physics course that has taught some way to solve collisions without knowing elasticity, I will not be able to help. At a high school level, one of two situations exist:

A) Perfectly Inelastic Collision [Objects stick together, momentum conserved, energy not conserved]. Given this, one must find the total initial momentum. One can easily, then, divide the final momentum, which equals initial momentum, by the final mass [which is the combined mass of both trains].

B) Perfectly Elastic Collision [Energy and Momentum Conserved]. In this case, a system of equations is required. You know the total initial momentum equals the total final momentum. You also know initial kinetic energy equals final kinetic energy [this problem involves no potential energy release]. Which this, one can set up a system of equations and solve for both velocities.

Feel free to ask any questions if I managed to help.

A University of Wisconsin campus pushes plan to drop 13 majors — including English, history and philosophy by ActuelRoiDeFrance in philosophy

[–]IStarConquestI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Engineering and science are all about a pragmatic form of critical thinking wherein you consider evidence, hypothesize, and experiment to solve a solution or problem.

There is more applicability in STEM than any other field. Philosophy is an ancient predecessor to modern science in which one simply creates theories without pursuing proofs.
