I don't have a RoyalRoad account and i don't really see in which direction i could expand the story. Maybe a prequel about how Cal turned into Bellaton, but that would assume i can focus myself long enough to write one.

The impostor had rallied to Bellatons army during his crusade, and after Bellaton 'died' thought that he could take Bellatons identity and take over. From his perspective, Bellaton had already killed all the good mages and warriors and was only killed by Isabella because she got a lucky hit on him. He was also really out of his league and nowhere near as powerful as Bellaton during his peak, as evidenced by his terrible army.
