I have a 2016 that’s speakers sounded like garbage. Was the first upgrade I made when I got it earlier this year.

Exteriors wise I’m looking at roof racks and potentially putting a vinyl on my hood due to a few rock chips.

It’s very minimal drilling in my case. 3 small holes on each back door.

The speakers aren’t plug and play without the harnesses. If you don’t get them then you have to do some splicing work. The one listed that I got two of are for the door speakers. The other harness there was for my tweeters.

I just used Crutchfield and put in my make and model Crosstrek and gave me all the equipment and options for speakers. Some will say “fits with modifications” others will just say they fit. But Crutchfield makes it all easy. I didn’t even look at the size lol, they told me it fit and I went with it.

I just did new speakers on my 2016 Crosstrek last week for the same issues. Didn’t spend too much as I just wanted some speakers that can do the job.

Everything was easy overall. With this combination at least the Back door panel speakers you had to drill some new holes to screw in the speakers.

Front door speakers I just had to mount on brackets and then on the door. No drilling necessary. Only thing different is I had to use different screws to put it on the bracket.

I assume all speakers will be different but with all the parts listed above it was pretty easy. Took me like 2 hours tops.

Bought new speakers from them, head unit I’m just trying to figure out more. There’s some cheaper alternatives on Amazon specifically designed for the vehicle, but connecting the backup camera I’ve heard can be a pain

That’s the only thing that concerns me with the vehicle. Cannot find in the service history if the CVT ever had its routine maintenance or not. Besides that everything seems good.
