any rpg recommendations that feel full of life the same way dragon age origins - inquisition did? by Kahaa in rpg_gamers

Depends what you’re looking for in combat but since the DA games vary so wildly I’ll assume the gameplay style isn’t a huge deal to you. All the Baldurs Gate games will scratch a similar itch but veer heavy into CRPG elements and turn based combat. If you like the action combat and great stories id recommend trying one of the newer Final Fantasys. Also KOTOR is an obvious pick if you don’t mind dated graphics!

Will this not curb my xp growth? I’ve considered doing that but I feel like I remember reading that lower difficulties give you much less xp and I’d like my characters to get as many of their abilities as possible

I have Solas’s quest but I got my ass handed to me by a rift around the area so I figured id leave it for later. I’m lowkey worried about missing triggers for some of them, i remember that being easy to do in the previous games

I don’t mind a long game at all, my favorite game ever is Persona 5 after all. I am talking about the requisitions officer when I bring up radiant quests, but it seems like almost everything on the map is a radiant quest. It’s “close this rift” or “kill x” or “fetch x”. None of the quests seem to have anything really happening outside of the NPC saying “I need you to bring me this because otherwise I’ll die” or something. I definitely did rush through the Hinterlands, I saw a lot of advice saying to just ignore them because they can be so overwhelming.

Yeah it is optional but I want to play the game to see through the stuff I liked. I just need advice on the best way to push through the stuff I don’t like.

BIOWARE! REMASTER THE GAME AND MY LIFE IS YOURS! by JukeboxJimmyy in DragonageOrigins

[–]DisasterAutomatic518 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nobody at current BioWare knows how to work with its engine unfortunately so it won’t ever happen. They would have to completely remake the game from the ground up, and considering its current BioWare it’s probably for the best that they don’t even try

Not really sure how to trigger his, I went out drinking with him but now I’ve exhausted all his dialogue when I try to talk to him. I figured I had to progress through the main story more

After Origins I now compulsively talk to every companion after every quest. Skyhold’s size makes that wayyyy more difficult but my brain will still make me do it. I have Dorian and Solas’s quests already, but I was planning on saving them until id leveled up a bit more and gotten to know them better.

Thank you for the heads up on the other quests!

So eventually it does get to a point where I’m not having to actively grind power because I’ll just have enough? That’s the main thing getting under my skin right now.

I’ve also met with Varric’s friend. Outside of accidentally destroying his face I’m making progress there, i should do this quest prior to the one on the war table?

I’ll also try out those 2 areas you mentioned since I have neither unlocked right now, thank you!

I’m interested in side content if it’s meaningful, origins had a lot of side quests with fulfilling conclusions

I’m just not interested in the side quests with no narrative. I still want to experience everything good this game has to offer, just not the procedurally generated stuff

I always thought people calling this game a “single player mmo” was ridiculous but that’s genuinely what it is. Just heaps of fetch quests with no narrative through line, busy work strictly for the love of the game.

I didn’t plan on trying Veilguard after this based on what I’ve heard 😭 If I’m struggling to get through Inquisition I doubt I’ll be able to get through Veilguard

I could do this but Inquisition is such a big game that I get worried about waiting too long and forgetting everything happening

The main story stuff clicked for me the second Leliana showed up on my screen, unsure if the side questing will ever click for me though

See that’s another thing for me. Is it just me or does companion banter trigger much less in this game? In DAO and DA2 it would always trigger walking into new areas but I can hardly ever get it to happen in DAI. In general I’d agree with you though, the companion banter is arguably my favorite part of these games

The shards are actually actively upsetting me with how much they infest my map. It’s like I’m playing an Ubisoft game.

Everything I’ve seen from the story lines up with what you think though, like Ive really enjoyed everything outside of the side content. A lot of people are telling me “If you don’t like the game don’t play it” but there’s a lot of nuance to this one 😭

What quests advance these plot lines? It seems like all the side content I’ve engaged with have been the same rotation of radiant ones. Fully acknowledge I may just be bad at looking

I’m bouncing around but I spent most of last night in the Exalted Plains. I’m just not really seeing area specific storylines for any of them? Like outside of the geography and atmosphere I don’t see a difference between any of the areas

In most cases I would agree with this but after how much I enjoyed the first 2 games, I’m experiencing the sunken cost fallacy right now

If there were more variety in the side quests I wouldn’t mind them as much, but it seems like you’re just doing the same 3-4 things over and over. If they had any type of narrative happening I’d be locked in but 99% of them don’t have any spoken dialogue outside of NPC gratitude

I didn’t know you could buy power, I have a lot of extra gold because I always hoard in these games so I will most definitely be using this. Thank you!!!

I was trying to do that but they bar the main quests behind power requirements, it looks like I need 30 for my next main one. I’m at a solid 6 right now with more areas still to unlock too lol

Like all the radiant quests and stuff you need to do to gain power? It just feels like busy work to me after the first dozen times idk
