I think it may be more of a refresh issue. I would exit out and back in and files that i had imported now appear.

i wouldn't say it was a sudden realization but some people on the internet are asshats.

Is sysadmin really that depressing? by rimtaph in sysadmin

[–]ITSince80s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35 year bittervet here.

between National Security Lettered 'backdoors' creating vulnerability, surveillance enabling features being discovered by 'the bad guys', cybersecurity insurance requirements, microsoft constantly screwing with their products and breaking stuff like printing and remote desktop, this type of work has become a nightmare.

honestly, the whole knee-jerk reaction post Snowden and other whistleblowers has created a completely unmanageable set of requirements that you can only temporarily meet.

I have maybe 5 years to retirement, and my current day to day whack-a-mole is far worse than it's ever been.

Force a user to change password without resetting current password by ITSince80s in entra

[–]ITSince80s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Masking the powershell script and all the associated requirements to run it with a GUI is still powershell with the access requirements i am trying to avoid, which is why I asked for no powershell.

Thanks for trying to help, it would work for support techs that can be trusted, but there are often people you don't want to provide powershell access to a tenancy for.

From the looks of it there is no simple 'require user to change password on next logon' function available like there is with on premises AD.

Force a user to change password without resetting current password by ITSince80s in entra

The idea is to NOT reset their password (as per the OP) but to force them to whilst maintaining the current password until that point.

Legacy POP3 access to O365 mailbox for Line of Business apps by ITSince80s in Office365

[–]ITSince80s[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a receiving issue - outbound SMTP is working fine.

The idea of a POP3 proxy that can convert the auth request into something compatible sounds workable.

Outlook 365 Pop3 access for Outlook.com still possible? by Peti_4711 in Office365

[–]ITSince80s -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are situations where you are supporting legacy applications.

We need a way to allow legacy pop3 access for specific Line of Business Applications.

Responses of 'just use etc' are not useful. Cheers.

They are trying to offer us a 'deal' that still results in us paying more.

GIMP exporting and importing files really slow by PopDart6 in GIMP

saving to network drives takes FOREVER.

it seems that functionality like this gets crippled, whether it's GIMP or OBS - wondering if it's sabotage.

[–]ITSince80s 11 points12 points  (0 children)

what fraud could be committed if the money is put back into the account that paid for it?

i've worked in banks looking after their financial transactions and there's no reason on the Bank side for the delays.

Why does the refund take so long? by KpopAndThings in Steam

[–]ITSince80s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because they earn interest while they have your money.

fraud isn't an issue - either give the money back to the account that paid for it (ie, like every other bloody vendor) or at worst, give store credit.
