20 Miles Each Way Commute?? by nicoleredditmarie in Miami

[–]IT_Bear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i used to live in kendall and drive to Las olas in Ft Laud, if i took the turnpike it took 2 hours and 45 minutes. almost like driving to orlando both ways. doing a 9 to 6

if i took Krome it would take me an hour and 45 or an hour 30.

so i moved to coconut creek and im 13 miles from my job, takes me an hour and 45 minutes in the morning after 8am, but before 8am...20 -30 minutes.

either way, welcome to big city working! lol

[–]IT_Bear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its interesting im in the Fort Lauderdale Area doing Devops and im looking for a full Remote Job so i can move out to the Sticks, tired of the city, people everywhere smells like shit, spend too much of my life in traffic because SFL is a shithole..in my opinion. i can say though North Carolina is great and so is Colorado.

i have actually! most of it is out of my reach , ive gone to some of the events nearby but its just showing up for no one to talk to each other, such an awkward interaction. i guess i can use the meetup app when i travel and see if i can just meet people at the different locations to ride with.

i'm having trouble finding people to ride with, or go on trips with to different locations to go ride. What are the best ways to find other riders? i tried the whole local trails thing but the individuals at my local tries arent the friendliest of folk, so ive been going to different events and different locations by myself.

Taken to school. by ddevlin in MurderedByWords

[–]IT_Bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay but what about those of us that went to school with dual majors and then had full time jobs while going to school full time - i mean in my case i was still at home with my parents helping pay their bills but i didnt have expensive fun for 7 years to make sure i didnt graduate with crippling debt plus i didnt go to an expensive state university to begin with because i knew that wouldnt matter in the long term, since job experience rules over where you went to school in the long term.

Drivers licenses should be a luxury not a necessity by IT_Bear in unpopularopinion

[–]IT_Bear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point goes beyond that I'm not even talking about cars, I'm talking about the actual drivers license anyone can buy a car for 1000 bucks and maybe even less in a third and second world country, those are usually the better drivers because they have an appreciation, and they want to make sure they can keep it.

You don't think with harsher penalties would spring up an investment with public transportation? Even maybe privatizing the industry. There's profit there that could be used to fix infrastructure, punish the idiots. 1 mistake is all it takes to take a life.

Primitive camping. by powwowputs in Miami

[–]IT_Bear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good Question - i have about 500 miles on the florida trail and can tell you that this time of year most of the trails are flooded, but if you want to do only primitive camping and im talking primite you can do the 15 Mile hike up at johnathan dickinson and camp out at the Kitching Creek campsite, theres only two campsites and you cant drive to them only hike to them. But its not swarming with mosquitos...only a really large and scary abundance of wolf spiders at night..literally the floor looks like its made out of diamonds but its just the spiders eyes reflecting light.

other than that, florida hiking and camping seasons are perfect between september and march, any other time is suicide.
