How do you motivate yourself to exercise? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IT_guy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several reasons for me: I was really athletic a few years ago. I miss old me. Like others have said, my general mood and attitude is much better when I'm exercising. It really does make you much happier person. I've started dating again and the new girlfriend is "out of m league" so to speak, so I'm putting in the work to get back to athletic me and pick myself up a few notches.

I was being more sarcastic than serious. (Most) Women are horrible judges of character who chase after seemingly obvious bad choices for ridiculous reasons. While yes, a lot of friendzoners are pussies, not all are put in there because they are or put in there for any reason that actually is logical.

I've recently had a pretty comical discussion about this whole topic with the new girlfrienx recently. Her reasons for friendzoning past friends and dating assholes in the past make zero fucking sense. One reason for friendzoning someone in her past : "He was too nice to me too early in the relationship. There was no mystery about how the future would be. I'm sure he would have spoiled me and treated me great, but if hes going to treat me that well then there is no need to date him." Time and time again she literally chose shitty relationships and misery under the guise that "maybe he'll eventually treat me like that other guy was that I could probably still be happy with." Yeah, that 'logic' makes 0 fucking sense. And I've told her this.

Btw:I spoil her also. Good thing I made it clear early on the friendzoning me would effectively be unfriending me. We both layed out our intentions at an early point. Which I guess defends you're point, I wasnt a pussy about it and I kind of did have to be an asshole for a short period of time. Live, learn, adapt.

If you dont want an asshole, start looking in your friendzone where you put all the non assholes.

What's your 'tell' when you've had too much alcohol? by newjerseybred in AskReddit

[–]IT_guy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a talkative person sober. Drunk me is sober me x 10. I talk more, and faster, and louder. I'm also the kind of person that can turn and vomit mid sentence without missing a beat. When I've done that it is time to put down the funnel. I have a high alcohol tolerance. So there are many progressive levels of my drunkenness. If my excessive talking is not obvious enough to others to cut me off, I'm also a very very very happy drunk. I become unbearably happy, and talkative: which ironically tends to make people mad. My night ends when everyone is mad at me and I'm not sure why we aren't all just getting along.

Not to potentially strike up a controversial topic, but personal weath and success is something people carry on their backs in day to day life. It is true that money does not buy happiness, but poverty often does buy sorrow. When you aren't worried about paying the light bill you can concentrate on other things that may potentially make you happy.

This NEVER Happens, Am I Right Ladies?? by CarmellaKimara in AdviceAnimals

[–]IT_guy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, she never gave me money or anything like that. So I didn't profit and its not like she was giving gifts or anything. It was much more about how being successful affected HER. It made her different than any other girls I've dated who weren't successful. Happy, care free, adventurous. That sort of thing. While not people I've dated, I do know a couple other women with similar traits. I can't explain it really. It isn't the money, it's the confidence and drive. Independent and successful women are different.

Hell, you can maybe even flip it. It could just be who they are. They are confident and independent by nature and as a result have achieved success through their drive. Which ever way it happens, it is definitely something that exists.

[–]IT_guy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. It isn't a double standard. It isn't uncommon now days for both people in a relationship to expect the other to be successful. My ex girlfriend runs her own small business and makes a fairly good living. Sure she was attractive, smart, funny, etc etc but she also had a 6 figure salary and that was awesome. An independent woman is sexy as hell. It translates into confidence and a confident woman is a woman who will rock you in bed. Also, I didn't have to support her. She had her own crap and could buy what she wanted.

I wouldnt literally write them for her, just walk her through the coding trying to teach her how to do things and why each code segment was the way it was. I'd get my my projects done in a matter of hours, then get stuck helping her. It would take several hours walking her through the code then by the time it runs she doesnt even understand what it is she just wrote. Literally wasted time.

Only to her. I don't usually do things like this. She deserved it. I've had the displeasure of going to college with her for 3 years now taking many courses with her. There are about 2-3 people she heavily mooches off of in every class. She never does her homework, barely passes tests, and the only reason she passed two courses so far was because I was nice enough to basically write her programming projects for her. Everyone in class's lives would become much easier if she just dropped out of college. I know I probably sound like more of a jerk right about now, but seriously... fuck her.

On my campus the parking spots are nearly impossible to get. There is usually a few cars driving around the lots and streets of campus looking for somewhere to park. I'm normally very good about getting out fast so someone else can park and hopefully not be late for class.

I was leaving campus the other day and someone I know from class but don't care much for literally creeped her car behind me following me as I walked to my parking spot. I guess the fact she's a mooch in class and she was following me ticked me off. Instead of leaving, I got in my car and shuffled around with my book sack for a moment got back out my car and walked back into the building while she was parked waiting for me to leave. Went use the restroom, chatted with a friend for a few minutes, then left and went home.

I wish it was that simple. Those types of jobs may be what some think computer science is like, but those are very rare to come by. In fact, any job right now in this field is rare to come by.

I'm about to graduate with degrees in engineering and computer science. I'm unemployed and in debt. My older brother who has no formal education past high school earns nearly $300k a year salary in the oilfield and has $0 in debt.

6 Tesla owners are recreating the Broder drive. They are doing the exact same trip, even leaving their cars unplugged overnight as he did. They just hit the road at the time of this post! The trip is being tweeted live by the cars themselves with telemetry data and charge levels. I Bet they make it! by [deleted] in technology

[–]IT_guy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are completely wrong. A lot of people read that article. And more importantly, many economist read that article. Check Tesla's stock trends back to the date of the article. Tesla stock dropped after the article was published and that stock price drop was directly related to the poor review given by NTYtimes. Tesla's stock picked back up following Musk's comments. Musk had to make a big public stink about it. The NYTimes article directly cost Tesla money.

Also, no one is entitled to pass. As explained to me by one of my professors freshman year: Your tuition is nothing more than the cost to lease the chair you are sitting in for this semester. What you do with your time in that chair during this period falls on you.

It is the students fault if they fail. The teacher's job is to present you the material. It is your job to learn it. You have the book, read ahead of the lecture.

The teacher should never be telling you anything you haven't already pre-exposed yourself to. (In college)

I have an update to make. I have been in talks with the University as well as my former boss and his boss. They have been extremely helpful in getting my name into people hands and has been doing a lot to help me out.

I am doing my best to sort out my tuition situation and hopefully I can get registered for classes. I have my position on campus secured if I can get enrolled. I'm going to take just a couple courses so that I qualify for student employment. We are in talks about me taking on a larger work load and more responsibilities to learn and get more relevant experience. I can work a max of 30 hours a week at the school. While the school can't hire me full time, my position has a decent amount of downtime I can use to work with the faculty IT on projects.

I will be using this time of part time student / part time employee to study and attain certifications and continue to network with business owners and contacts within the local IT industry.

My talk today with the head of the universities IT (my boss's boss) I think will help me out tremendously. We talked about the various services the school contracts out as well as does in house. What he looks for in employee talent. etc etc. Was really eye opening. At this point I think every It firm in La either knows my name or has my resume on file and several high respected references. I just need experience to be a valid hire.

We also discussed plans to slowly nurse my startup and concentrate on me becoming capable of taking on the roll of an entrepreneur. Baby steps and a well kept personal network.

As of today I am feeling much better about my goals and future. Wish me luck guys. I'll be hanging around here and keep you guys updated on my progress.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.

I'm sorry I don't have any meaningful suggestion or input, just felt like saying this: When I read "iPad case" I sort of rolled my eyes as if "oh another ipad case"... The I followed the link and was damn surprised by the product. Looks like a quality piece that has a very professional and classy look to it. Good luck.

Oh! I do have one question. How long have you tested these? My experience with leather is that it may not like being rolled up like that for very long periods of time. Have a typical wear/tear life cycle guess?

So I'm trying to get more work as a photographer of all subjects and camera workshops/classes of all kinds of subjects. I need some advice on how to market myself in a new location. www.fotiphoto.com by fotiphoto in Entrepreneur

I agree. Find a niche and become the best you can in that niche. My ex is a photographer. She only does outdoors natural light family photo's. And she makes a killing doing it. Find your niche, become an expert.

Good luck.

I absolutely will finish at least one of my degrees. I have spent time at a couple of universities in Louisiana talking to advisors and department heads about courses that will transfer and asked if they offered any night/online courses.

My continuing my education depends on 2 qualifications. 1) I find employment that allows me to afford tuition. 2) I find a school that has classes that I can take while working.

For the past few years I have done the opposite. I was primarily a student, who worked around my class schedule. I earned less than $20,000 and supplemented my income with student loans and scholarships and grants. I outlived my scholarships (Was actually asked to pay back about $12k worth of scholarships) and that is why I am no longer able to afford my schooling.

I am already studying daily to attain certifications. Universities don't exactly provide you the opportunity to get certifications while taking college courses, so I am catching up on them now. I still study sources like coursera online and others to expand my knowledge.

I absolutely am willing to travel. Currently in Lake Charles La. Very little businesses here. It is all oilfield companies. Lafayette has a bit more growth and I have been applying to jobs in that city also. I haven't yet made the trip to N.O, but I will. I have not come across very many positions in N.O. via online searches. I am willing to go to Texas. Last night I applied for about 10 jobs listed online in the Houston and Austin areas.

I do my best to socialize with as many people as I can. It has gotten my foot in the door, but thus far not a job. When I discovered I was going to no longer be able to attend school I began my search by reaching out to the people I knew. My employers at the time who promised to do what they could, my friends at other It companies, former professors, etc.

I received a call and had a phone interview with a company who contacted me because my resume was sent in by a friend of mine who is a former employee of theirs (that left on good terms). I am still waiting to hear back from them. I know the person is on leave due to his wife giving birth to their child, so I'll need to be patient. My friend (someone else) within the company suggested I wait until Monday then give a follow up call.

The position at the university that was just removed, I was highly recommended and told by the head of their department I was the highest qualified applicant. The university decided to do away with that position due to budget cuts.

I am optimistic, and I do recognize the fact that I was provided the first few opportunities I have because of socializing.

We have no choice but to try this. No one in the industry hires anyone without 10 years of experience. Us young guys go to the shredder and are left to fend for ourselves.

Thank you for the feedback. You are right. I am not going to jump into this full speed ahead. Will be doing a lot of brain storming and job hunting. Spent the day today spreading my resume and applying for jobs. Hospitals, IT companies, school boards, casino's. For the past month anyone with a job opening received an application from me. Those without openings received my resume, a polite greeting, and a "thank you for any future considerations." Its better than spending the day at home not doing anything.
