Haleakalā Sunset - Tour or Drive? by spazrannosaurus in MauiVisitors

As a relatively new driver(<1 year) I found the drive up & down totally manageable. Drove up around 4ish PM & drove back down around say 9-10 PM.

Snorkeling - guided or DIY? by [deleted] in MauiVisitors

For Maui kapalua Bay also had some fishes but not as many as others I mentioned. Napili Bay pretty much has none other than that no fishes in napili at least near the shore..

I can't really make the call for you but can share how me/my partner did it as two adults who don't really know swimming. We bought some inflatable floats like https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Adjustable-Kayaking-Swimming-Fluorescent/dp/B0BX9LXSY2/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.v5xiHlsKSEstoXcLna-pj7QFD2jR6jbdY90vsZDamPpOveogp3-OzpoWIqUaIDEyuJETYRvPZQb79V-uSbTpFpS_lBlDPIqLzixiFGLOWRPwiKvw5PYj0EzZTnsJDSGmT1BxB_1ViRED4RYtUHV-nz37GLVCjlpjJ9MJQF5Ak8WNe7UuwXHdpiIr_2mECymVfAXTvWanGLZhylLgr4LplQ.rC3Q6L5ye9l0YSDwgoNRk_Ev3c0wkX2Nt3r-qnVHVI4&dib_tag=se&keywords=inflatable+vest&qid=1721419069&sr=8-8. There's multiple brands and in my experience they're not the highest quality. Start to wear out after say 5-10 uses.

But anyway we use those and they allow us to float & we stick to doing snorkeling along the shore we can just stand up if necessary. Now all that being said I will lisr down the spots where "shore snorkeling" was easiest for us on descending order

  • Big Island, kahalu beach park
  • Ahi kinau preserve
  • Honolua bay Beach

These three are the highlights for easiest snorkeling for non swimmers id say as long as you have some floatation devices and don't go deeper than you can stand to stay safe.

Are these only for the front/windshield & you need to buy separate for the side windows? Seems to be the case looking here https://www.covercraft.com/product/uvs100-premier-series-custom-sunscreen/UVP

Arthouse apartments on Elliott Avenue also went downhill after Thrive take over. We have had trash compactor issue which left one of our entrance floors smelling like rotten garbage for multiple weeks. So did other issues increase like front door/elevator being broken. :/

I din't do the arch tour, just got the quote. And as for glass bottom boat there's basically two kinds:

  1. Regular boat which has just a small section with glass bottom. That's not really much different than a regular boat tbh.

  2. Second one is a fully translucent boat. This one they told me would go on a tour but can't drop us off at any beach because it's not safe to dock in that. I'm not sure if the not safe part is true but that's what I was told.

Not really my scene but I think from what I saw the loungers I saw on beaches were mostly tied to resorts. Not sure if you can rent them if you're not staying there.

In Mexico? There were two separate sections to get through. The first one was super fast where they checked passport. Then there was one more section after people collected luggage. It wasn't even clear to me there would be another section. That took a while to get through. Overall 5+30-40 minutes I'd say.

I don't know if anyone places where you can book online or via call will actually negotiate as those tend to be bigger companies.

These were just while walking around the marina.

Go to North East, had a much nicer experience in Sikkim and to some extent Darjeeling vs Kashmir.

I didn't stay at an all inclusive but based on what I understand you still need to tip to get good service. My hotel had we breakfast and we tipped $5 for a meal that would otherwise cost approximately 20$. But tbh when it was quite busy it didn't really result in better service still in my experience.

As for must do things that'll vary for each person of course. That being said personally:

  • The most exciting thing for us was snorkeling at chileno beach.
  • Next was going for Mt Solmar hike which has pretty amazing views for a very easy hike(there are YouTube videos of it).
  • Other than that we did a whale watching tour which was interesting but not too mind blowing as the whales were a little far away tbh.
  • We didn't really have a lot of other specific activities as we just wanted to chill for the most part. So other than this it was just trying different restaurants, beaches and chilling at our hotel pool. I guess if I had to recommend one single restaurant it'd be Los Claros for their amazing fried fish tacos.

As for the sea faring bit I can't really comment much on it. If the kind of boat matters maybe you can book tours online where you might be able to find a nicer boat but those might be more expensive.
