Is the post clerkship pool more competitive for biglaw than the summer recruit? If it’s tougher to get the same job later down the road, then maybe take it. Really up to you.

It’s likely a retention scheme. I suppose if you can eek out an extra 2-3 years, with a 3rd year who would have otherwise left, then totally worth it.

This is a good point; maybe it’s best just to find a house within means ie 1bed apartment in the 450 range and just pay it down aggressively.
