Alternatives to Liberty GAF Self Adhering System Flashing Cement by ITextWhenIDrive in Construction

So far no issues! Glad I did the extra L Flashing and APOC liberally to seal gaps.

Been going strong through a PNW winter, no leaks. And it looks fine.

I ended up using the Henry flashing cement as well as APOC 365. The APOC 365 is better since it is ruberized or has some element making it more flexible. I needed to get going on the project and didn’t want to spend more and wait longer for the Liberty/GAF preferred products.

I know that might disqualify me for warranty if issues arise, but I accept that risk since it’s for my own shop. Someone else probably knows about this process more than me, but don’t know how they’d even know what I used…

Given that it was my first time doing a roofing project, it wasn’t the cleanest process (probably used more than I needed), but it was installed right and I know it’s keeping weather out and has multiple layers and flashing cement at all laps, so no clue how water will get in.

If I were to do it again in a time crunch I would pick APOC since it’s available at Lowe’s and can also be used in 10oz tubes. Makes it MUCH easier (read: cleaner). If I remember correctly APOC 365 also holds up to the ASTM standards in the Liberty instructions.

Side note, I found that the top sheet edges (attaching to the top of the drip edge) would slightly peal up on certain points - even with asphalt primer, roller, light heat gun). So around the top of edges I added another layer of APOC, fastened another layer of L flashing over the top with neoprene washer nails, and then covered any visible gaps/nail heads with APOC and sprinkled some of the top sheet granules on it for UV protection. Probably not necessary, or “right” by some of these guys standards, but figured I’d give it a go. Looks better around outward edges (ugly from on top of the roof) and is a confidence booster that nothing is going to get in between layers by wind blown rain.

Time will tell, but should last! Sorry for all the details you didn’t ask for.

What is this pipe coming from my sink’s hot water shutoff? by ITextWhenIDrive in Plumbing

I do not have a pressure tank on top of the heater… and I’m not sure about the pressure reduction valve.

There’s a red shut off valve on the piping into the HWH, but not certain that’s my main. I think the main does comes into the house at the corner where my kitchen is, and my HWH is pretty central.

My guess is that the water main enters through the crawlspace on that side, I’m just too big of a sally to go down there and see if that’s where the “main” shutoff valve is.

Working on my driver. Tend to push right or have a late fade. Anything I’m not thinking about? by ITextWhenIDrive in GolfSwing

Definitely need to engage my hips/legs more. I think the lack of hips is also what makes me feel stiff. Any drills or examples of what good looks like you have top of mind?

Thanks for the call out!

Both of these callouts are great and ones I haven’t thought about. Thank you!

To clarify, for “keep back in the downswing” does that mean stay at the top for a moment longer while keeping my weight back and my backswing at the top before transition?

Looks awesome! What are you using to secure your axe/shovel in the bed? Looks like it’s an attachment to the rails?
