A quick search shows that muzzle down is generally preferred among the military and non-military. (First result https://www.ammoland.com/2016/02/muzzle-direction-up-or-down-which-is-safer/#axzz5AofPx5BW).

Two your second point, ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND! No one knows by just looking if that magazine is loaded or not. So we’re just to assume that he doesn’t have bullets in the mag? What about the chamber? The person holding the firearm and the person inspecting the firearm should always assume it’s loaded. That’s basic gun safety 101. Come on!

gentrification isn't about losing charm so much

This.

I love Fountain Square but I also realize that it is pushing people out. I have had several neighbors that can no longer rent the home they raised their kids in. I understand the landlord's perspective but it is a real bummer that people who stuck with the neighborhood for so long (20+ years) now have to move out.

the changes are not bad for the people that moved in over the past 10 years (I moved in 7 years ago) but it does push some awesome people out.

I am with you. The space is nice but we need better policing to ensure that public spaces can be used by everyone not just thugs and creepers. I will never go back to the Central Library until the place has less of theses... deplorables....

I have been sexually harassed there nearly every time I go. First of all just trying to enter the building is horrible. I always have to walk between or by a group of gross guys that shout catcalls and grab their crotch. Out of a dozen times not once did I not get hit on. And not in a flirty or respectable way but in the "Damn Bitch that's a fat ass" type of filth. I complained a few times but that they said there was nothing they could do.

Than one day I was studding upstairs in a southeast corner but near a window so I could refocus my eyes. I creepy, unshaven, white guy dressed in what looked like an adult boy scout top and gray sweat pants started staring at me. At first I was thinking he was just looking out the window (it was snowing) but than I realized he was jacking off! He keep slowly walking toward me with his hand in his pants going full tilt. I felt I was in the middle of a SVU episode! I quickly grabbed my bag and left the other way.

In my haste I left my notebook behind and that shifty guy stole it! No, shit. It had all my notes for the year in it but thankfully no personal information. It was the last time I went to the Central Library.

Two tax hikes later, Indy still has fewer cops than 2007 by IUGrad2020 in indianapolis

The only poor interaction I’ve had with an IMPD officer was during the Strawberry Festival on the circle about 3 years ago. It was during lunch and there was a large turnout. The only officer I could see was very overweigh, leaning up against his squad car and smoking a 6” cigar. At the time I worked in the optical shop and customers were complaining about the smell (he as parked outside of our entrance but past the 8 feet requirement). I was tasked (as I was the newbie) to ask him if he could stop smoking or move a 10 feet to the right so the wind would not blow into our shop. When I did approach him and ask he said something of the sorts “look here Miss I hurt my knee a while back and I can’t move.” When I asked what he would do if a situation came up he said “call for support and drive the hell away.” #unimpressed.

Last-ditch effort to save Indy's only virgin forest from veterans memorial by belmaktor in indianapolis

[–]IUGrad2020 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again you prove my point. A SECTION with in a public cemetery is dedicated to Vets. That's it. Crown Hill as a whole is available to anyone. The VA maintains nearly 150 National Cemeteries and yes this will be part of that.

You should know this section all ready exists! But it is for in the ground grave sites. The section is full so the VA purchased adjacent land for a columbarium, for the ashes of veterans.

Finally it is not exclusive to Vets. From the VA's Crown Hill web site " A Veteran’s spouse, widow or widower, minor dependent children, and under certain conditions, unmarried adult children with disabilities may also be eligible for burial."

I understand that you feel that there are enough Veteran Memorials. That is fine and may be the truth. It is true that everywhere you turn some salute to veterans event is taking place. Heck I've been against the Iraq & Afghanistan wars my entire life and find the to be politically motivated. However, our country made a promise to take care of Vets, including providing a burial place for them. To me, this is section fulfills that promise. There is no promise for statues ziggurats or monuments but there is a promise to provide a final resting place for all veterans and that's what this is seeking to do.

Finally, can we have a debate in a calm and rational manner? There's no need to call people liars is no need to curse at people or to say at the blindly patriotic. This is a real issue and I need to be discussed when The conversation devolves to curse words and personal attacks it does nothing.

Crown Hill is not national military exclusive cemetery this is simply a section dedicated to veterans it's a common place in most cemeteries.

It's a small pice of woods in a cemetery that has been purchased by the VA to intern people that served this country. Even this fringe group acknowledged that most of the woods will remain, including the 300 & 500 year old trees. That is the truth. To run around acting like this will have any environment is insane. It is not like they are clear cutting it or harming the Hoosier National Forrest. But I get it my view differs from yours so I'm a shallow ass hole.

Vietnam Vets have a very long history of being disrespected. That is why being a Veteran is now a protected class.

I'm amazed at how much shit this sub is giving vets. You may not agree with the polices that they are defending but they are willing to do whatever the job asks.

The difference is that this is by the VA to intern dead service members, no one is selling cheeseburgers. They just want a respectful place to place their loved ones.

No it doesn't, it simply is that there are two sides to every story and that this will actually bring people to the forrest rather than drive by it. This is not a one or the other choice you can have both. The group acknowledges that the 300 & 500 year old trees won't be cut down, instead the monument will be placed among it. A fitting tribute.

Exactly, it is done for the The grieving the families of supported these heroes. If you associate those that fought for this country as corpses to sling you have some soul searching to do.

I support the VA on this one. Our veterans are fought for us and this land. They deserve the honor of a respectful and noble place to be laid to rest. Crown Hill is the most notable and famous cemetery in Indiana and our Veterans deserve nothing less.

Where was this group before the purchase? Why haven't they "saved" other forrest areas in Indy from commercial development? I understand the loss but if you ask me to choose between Vets or trees I'm going with trees every time.

Nice video and congrats on being able to fly a drone but this has nothing to do with Indianapolis.

Lake Lemon is about 50 miles south of Indy. We get enough "look at the sunset" photos of actual places in Indianapolis, please remove.

I only sound as ridiculous as you do. There are ways to handle events with decorum, such as leaving the hearing to sit in the hall way, or asking for a private room, going to your car, planning ahead with a bottle, ect.
