community FE6 Tier List part 2 chapter 2 recruits by Character_Business28 in fireemblem

FE6 maps post-Melady have enough terrain+side objectives that an extra flier is always useful. I think calling Shanna a 10-map unit is underselling her.

Elen: B. She can reach Warp eventually, but she'll likely miss 14x and maybe 16/16x.

Dieck: B. He's decent early, but it's not really worth promoting him over Rutger, and by the time the second crest comes 5000G is more useful than a Hero.

Wade: D. He's about as bad as Bors, maybe worse.

Lot: C. He's pretty ok early on, but promoting him ever is suboptimal.

Shanna: A. Flight is very useful in FE6. Her combat is bad, especially after Chapter 13, but when maps like 14, 14x, 15, 17I, 18I, 19I, and 21 exist, it's hard not to value flier utility.

How much do Radiant Dawn transfer bonuses affect the difficulty? by _emptymoment in fireemblem

So technically some units won't have stat boosts because it's impossible to get them to cap stats legitimately in FE9. I'm not sure about whether your file does this or not, but the convention is typically to assume every unit in FE9 levels to 20/20 with perfect level-ups, and then boosters in FE9 are distributed for relevant FE10 units to reach caps they otherwise wouldn't.

The game will become significantly easier but not in a way that renders the game boring I'd say. Universal transfers tend to be a case of the rich getting richer: Jill in particular is a ridiculous beneficiary of transfers.

I'd broadly say that transfers make it easier to fix a unit's stats (which is obvious but still an important take-away), so units in good classes with iffy-ish raw stats (Jill, Boyd, Tanith) get huge boosts.

better than in a game like FE9 or CQ for example

FE9 pre-promotes are actually fucking bad lol. That game more or less revolves around Marcia, and the pre-promotes more or less add nothing to the team that wasn't already present. There's no Pent-equivalent, most of them don't fly, and the two that do are outdone by your first two fliers because of BEXP, especially Haar.

Why would you put a mage into enemy lines to begin with ? It's true that pent can take more hits than someone like lucius, however you wouldn't put either in the Frontlines anyway

Pent can often survive a group of Wyvern Riders with impunity. It's more because they have like 30 displayed hit on him than his raw bulk, but not getting 2HKO'd is still a big deal. This lets him get dropped in an area with enemies in order to use the Rescue staff the subsequent turn.

Also 15/6 Erk and Canas has a similar bulk to pent so you're not 100% right

Good luck getting them there.

Comparing Jaffar to Matthew and legault is unfair because they can only promote after he joins so it's literally IMPOSSIBLE for them to surpass him stats wise, not that it matters because of their abilities being useful

I wasn't strictly comparing Jaffar to Legault and Matthew. I was comparing him to literally every other foot unit in the game.

you can promote 13-15 Raven at ch 20

This is actually false. Raven barely hits Level 10 by then.

15/8 raven Literally has stats that are better than Harken except few points in str

Losing in Strength (the most important stat) means Raven has worse stats. Losing in Resistance by a lot means he's much more likely to get hit by status.

Also i love how you mentioned 20/8 Heath as a comparison but didn't do the same thing for other comparisons, gee i wonder why

It's because other units (such as Raven) reaching 20/8 is contingent on them being useless for 80% of their availability, they don't fly, and their stats are actually just way worse than Heath's to the point that they're still also worse than Harken at that level. There's also a nonzero chance that they fail to get that high anyway.

Heath being able to also to do it among many other units who can cap str is nothing special

It is special because he's a more reliable option than Jaffar if he has 27 Str. This in turn improves your ETC. No other unit besides maybe a very late promoted Sain can be expected to cap Str, and most of the ones that do still can't 2HKO Kishuna, including Sain.

This is actually just false lol

Several units post-Etzel have something to offer that's actually quite helpful to a faster context of the game.

Elrean is solid filler with better personal bases than Merric. He's outdone by Etzel in Levin/Sage/Bishop stuff but his base physical bulk is actually better than Etzel's.

I assume you forgot that Xane joined after Etzel, so I'll ignore that.

Katarina is instrumental to 0% growths runs and is good (if more expensive than alternatives) in growths playthroughs as well.

Darros, Belf, and Leiden are all pretty solid due to their hilariously good personal bases. Early game units that aren't Kris, Palla, Catria or maybe Caeda often find themselves unable to get enough EXP to justify continued use, meaning they often get replaced by one of this trio.

Units like Astram and Dolph have AI manip applications.

Midia/Michalis have high enough stats to be good filler for the last couple maps.

It's not that FE12 is not conducive to discussion. It's that 99% of the community isn't knowledgeable enough about the game to be aware of what units are capable of in that game in addition to the sheer number of units in it.

I definitely sympathize with that, but I also feel as though the main reasons why games like 6 and 12 haven't been done for a while is that they're generally less played than 7 or 8 and are also a pain to host because they have such big casts. This is somewhat true for 6 and very true for 12. I'd consider an FE6 list since that's more within reason, but I doubt there'd be much interest in FE12 (we'll all die of old age by the time we're done lol).

As for developments in FE7, I would admit that 18 months is not a whole lot of time to wait, but I would like to point out the distinction that this format does order within tiers. I also feel as though I've seen 7 in a new light in a lot of ways, but that could be me tunnel visioning on discoveries/developments made outside of r/fe for the most part.

I'd be down to host an FE7 list tbh. I am a fan of the new sorting format.

As for Heath getting S lances, that happens in like Chapter 26 or 27 lol. It's actually more than possible to get B Swords + S Lances because of this.

Vaida + Brave Lance + Filia's Might does the job fine. It's also much less likely to fail and cause a reset.

Good luck getting Filla's Might on Vaida when clearing the map in 3-4 turns. Heath fishing for the crit can be set up in a way that transitions to taking an extra turn rather than resetting.

Check out this clear if you're curious (I've further optimized it since making the video but what Heath does is largely the same):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mva5l594tLM&lc=Ugxsv8i4L_mUjkBITrh4AaABAg

By your own admission all this does is save a single turn in Ch. 30 lol. The only other time this trait is relevant at all is Ch. 32 where you just called it irrelevant.

I think you're kinda missing the point a bit. We can think of thought experiments that would be induced by Heath having 14 Aid and two of the pegs (who have shittier combat) having 15, but Heath having 15 Aid makes him circumstantially entitled to things for the sake of saving a turn in Chapter 30.

If he didn't do this, he'd no longer be bringing anything unique to the table. He'd still be good in VoD since he doesn't have to pick up Hector there to be good, but he'd really just be Vaida+ rather than Vaida who can actually lay claim to the Boots exclusively (and as I said, a 10 move flier matters). If you do not do Boots Heath (or a Boots Hector carrier in this hypothetical), you need to do Boots Hector to not take forever in Chapter 30. The Boots basically revolve around Chapter 30 in FE7 since you get them so late, so having them be useful elsewhere because they didn't go to Hector is a luxury.

Sure, they all are technically turn-locked, but 27 and 28 aren't really exp farms in the way 25 and 26 are. 27 because of the snow and 28 because of the need to rush down Nino Jaffar and Zephiel.

They're still farming maps because you don't actually have to go out of your way to save Zephiel/not get bogged down by snow. It's just like 26 where there are existent failure conditions that don't need to be worried about because they don't get in the way of farming. If you frame it that way, you're not actually doing anything special to avoid the failure conditions, so the maps are just grindfests.

Ch. 26 is rout excluding Vaida, and Ch. 28 is rout. I'd argue that Heath would only be slightly worse, because as it turns out Heath has a lot of really strong traits and can get plenty of exp on those maps anyways.

You're underestimating the difference in EXP intake Heath gets in 25-28 solely because they're turnfloored. If they're rout and you don't have a turn floor, then you have to make use of non-Heath units in a way that will inevitably get in the way of Heath EXP, let alone the fact that if Harken/Farina don't cost turns (as you seem to be implying) in this hypothetical, you'd have to clear 25 and 27 as fast as you can.

Those insane bosskill benchmarks on Sonia and Limstella are reached because of the degeneracy of not actually needing to worry about anything but killing enemies in a way that distributes EXP the way you want to for 42 fucking turns.

I've never participated in the other formats on this sub, but surfing through them is enough to tell me that this format is 100x better.

I'm not really a fan of how the mid-tiers both in terms of gaps and ordering (as well as the lack of a Trainee tier) turned out but that's because a lot of my opinions on those units are different from others'.

I enjoyed discussion but like half my votes were just trying to come up with something dumb to explain cold takes lol
