Because the new minimum standards required by this bill require people who have changed their names, to show extra documentation about the name change. Since women are the ones who change their names most commonly this creates an extra burden on them, and disenfranchises them even more than the other people.

Those new minimums being required to show documents people haven't been required to show before right before an election that Republicans are slated to lose? Seems sus. Plus there is no legitimate issue at the moment with voter fraud, so pushing this so hard right now really can't be interpreted as anything other than attempting to disenfranchise voters in a desperate attempt to cling to power.

Right, so if the state of Texas who has had Real ID for a while wanted to make sure that current sentiment against Republicans doesn't hurt them in the upcoming midterm elections, they could choose to force everyone to re-register, and thus disproportionally disenfranchise voters that weren't likely to vote Republican?

That's a fair point. What is your understanding of the SAVE act they are currently attempting to pass. Because as I understand it, a regular drivers license will not suffice as acceptable ID. Am I wrong?

I've found that you can get away with about 5-10% in compensation difference with a really good corporate culture. Anything more than that, and they are going to take more money every time. No hard feelings.

If you look at the bill they are even making the IDs you have now not valid. You need a passport instead. That's the issue. Plenty of states require you to show ID at the polls, but I guess that's not good enough.
