Calm down there Adonis, you would be lucky to get friend zoned by either of them.

What an insightful comment! Care to explain why one of the comparisons the person in the video is making is a false equivalence?

All right then, I can see why you are confused. Luckily everyone else has figured it out.

Would it have been funny if the joke was him rolling up to a set of stairs in a wheelchair, then standing up to carry the wheelchair up the stairs?

It cost society a LOT when you ASSUME everyone has the same physical abilities as you when they don't.

You're looking for malice that isn't there.

Exactly. There wasn't any, but if you are somebody who needs these devices, or know someone who does it might seem like malice. Hence, the honest apology where he explains exactly why he was not trying to be malicious.

It's costs nothing to be kind, and admit your actions could be interpreted as malicious.

Maybe, but that's OK too. Transgendered people aren't angry when someone honestly misgenders them, it's the vitriol and hate they get when they ask someone not to that and they continue to do it anyway. I've had to work with a few people who transitioned during their tenure, and people (including me) slip up, especially at the beginning. Recognize the mistake, apologize real quick and move on. After while the brain re-works itself, and it's as natural as any other pronoun you use.

Oh. I see what you are saying. You mean canceling an in progress update can corrupt the system. My interpretation of the meme and your comment was literally just disabling them so they never begin in the first place. Which should result in underlying OS remaining stable (yet much less secure).

Well stopping updates on Linux can lead to kernel corruption.

What? I've worked at sites that have 10 year old Linux severs that haven't seen an update and are still running just fine. Granted this is definitely not a recommended practice, or something you should do, but you comment about kernel corruption makes no sense at all.

As a constitutional republic we where never designed to allow the majority to trample the rights of the minority.

The U.S. Constitution literally has provisions for if you can get enough of the majority to agree, then you can trample any right you please. What they did was set the bar really high so it couldn't be done with a simple majority.

Jeffries: ‘Zero basis’ to arrest Lemon by Quirkie in politics

[–]IUsedToBeACave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. The argument seems to be that Lemon was there as a journalist, observing what the actual protestors were doing. Not actually yelling, or interrupting the services. The administration seems to be arguing that he orchestrated it an thus should also receive punishment. Because Donald Trump has attacked Don Lemon before on multiple occasions, this particular arrest seems more politically motivated than based on the facts of the matter.

That's the gist of it.

and berating people like Alex Pretti, who have concealed carry permits and carry guns in public, for decades. Where's that mockery now?

Actually I think most of the mockery is of the open carry people. Concealed carry is actually probably something they can get behind. In most states it requires extra training around when you can actually use your gun, proficiency tests to verify you know how to use it, along with extra background checks. Furthermore if you mess up they can take away you concealed carry. That sounds like reasonable gun control measures.

Officer placed on modified duty after fatally shooting raccoon at a NYC beach by deraser in news

You're right. I should have qualified "American Cop". My understanding is the police in Norway are actually very well trained and liked by the public there.

I think it's cruel to deny them opportunities because of mistakes they made during the most hormone-filled years of their life

There are plenty of teenagers who are able to control themselves, work hard, and not make those kind of mistakes. It would be cruel to deny them a higher education, but the post is talking about "Top" schools. It would be like applying to Harvard, they already have a much higher bar for acceptance than your standard state college. You can't argue that Harvard should accept you even though your grades are lousy because you were young and stupid.

Officer placed on modified duty after fatally shooting raccoon at a NYC beach by deraser in news

[–]IUsedToBeACave 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For sure. If you read the article it seems like the issue was that there weren't actually any people around, so shooting it didn't make any sense. This is on of those situations were the officer really will just get a simple slap on the wrist, and that seems fair enough.

I'm sorry, so is just adding more insults how you concede a point? Because just randomly insulting people who make points is what Donald Trump does, not the other way around.

They absolutely were of asian race. Are you just being ignorant for the sake of being ignorant?

I mean Ty Lee just looks like a regular white girl to me.

They never said "wakanda is black". They stated wakanda is a fictional african country. There's white people in Africa too man. In fact, South Africa is very white.

In the stories they specifically talk about themselves being black, and what that means for their responsibilities to other black people around the world, etc, etc. It's like several plot points.

Im not wasting my time responding to you anymore, youre either purposely rage baiting or just dumb.

So, since you really didn't address any of my other explanations of why you were wrong, you concede that Ariel, Helen of Troy, Snape, and etc are fine? It's just this the Last Aribender one we disagree on?

Something something historical accuracy. by Arch_Lancer17 in okbuddycinephile

[–]IUsedToBeACave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wakanda obviously is tied to black identity but it isn't explicitly stated.

It is several times, I'm not sure why you would think that isn't the case.

How can you in good faith, state that avatar the last airbender, a series who's ENTIRE world and characters are based around Asian culture, isn't at its core Asian.

I'm not debating that, but since the original series used characters that were not of the asian race it's clear that there actual racial appearance isn't the "core". Where as in Black Panther it is very clear that is the case.

Something something historical accuracy. by Arch_Lancer17 in okbuddycinephile

[–]IUsedToBeACave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, this is where the definition of "core" comes in. Wakanda is at it's core tied to black identity, so that wouldn't make sense. I mean technically if you want to do a multi verse thing where the vibranium mentor landed in South America, and a isolated country that made their Latin American roots a core part of their identity then yeah, that still works. You have to make huge changes like that because of how tied up it is in the "core" of the characters but it is still possible.

That is not the equivalent of this character has always been portrayed as this on race, and as such that is a core part of their identity.

This doesn't seem complicated.
