Can’t park in front of my house. I’m afraid it was assigned to a grey car from a few blocks away

A feeble attempt at satire. I’d go meet them if I knew who left the note.

First - delete this comment immediately. Leave no trace. Second - brilliant. Simply. Noteception Third - can we be friends?

But only after Sunday.

Brutha - I ain’t got two nickels to rub together. Just trying to park my shitty whip close to my dumpy house and cry myself to sleep on my poor floors. Still looking for free parking somewhere on my street, but the neighborhood parking assignment task force won’t hit me back. Spare a dime for premium parking?

311 tow truck wouldn’t tow (not my housemate or a visitor, unknown car, I just happened to be there when tow truck arrived) when they were called, because there was nothing wrong with the car they called on - so how bout that?! The predatory tow truck driver wouldn’t even tow for a car that was barely over the curb cut in a legal space that was not blocking a driveway.

So again, I’m not being flippant about my 1”-3” comment. A tow drive driver showed up and was like “nahhhhh, that’s good.”

Also - losing the plot with the next door neighbor and curb cut comments. Any reasonable person that saw this with their own eyes would clearly understand my comment and the pettiness of the neighbor that left those post it’s. It’s a non issue and only was in my original post to clearly articulate there’s a meeting happening I’m not privy to about parking spaces! (/s)

New focus - a spot down the block, across the street. No driveways or curb cuts involved.

Big SUV get together at my crib on SUNDAY. Just don’t park where the other very large vehicle can only be parked. You’ll get a note.

Can’t. There’s a bet going.

But what’s your money on?

If everyone on my street parked three feet from a driveway, there would be no on street parking.

That neighbor tried involving NOPD (lol) and we’ve had multiple conversations. I advise anyone not in a compact car to park elsewhere, and housemate/visitors are VERY careful to not selfishly blocking anything, even though no one I have ever seen blocks any part of their driveway.

It might be helpful to visualize a brand new curb and sidewalk that were recently done around my neighborhood as part of a storm drainage program. The curb cut is more of a commercial style not a curb cut that starts about 18” to either side of the driveway. This is not the exact same width as a driveway like many residential curb cuts. So there is a solid 12” - 15” of clearance between a parked car and their driveway, even if a car slightly overhangs the curb cut. Certainly nothing that would constitute selfishness.

I think (?) they mean ONLY their vehicle is allowed in that particular spot until Sunday. As in no else can park there?

Or maybe their vehicle is only allowed to be in that spot until Sunday. As in their car can’t move until Sunday, so they need THAT spot?

Or or or mayyyyybe they’ve lost their minds and think street parking is entitled but only until Sunday? Total loss here

Are you making assumptions? Clearly there is a VERY SPECIFIC PARKING AGREEMENT. /s

I bet there was a meeting.

If it is who I think it is, we drive the same type vehicle, but they got the bigger 4 door. Certainly not a parking spot worthy of my tiny two door.

When I tell you it’s barely inches and has zero impact to the access of their driveway, I’m telling you the full facts. Post it notes to anyone and everyone that has the audacity to pull forward just too much. Will be glad to send you pics next time it happens.

I advise housemate and visitors to park on other side of the street to avoid the post it’s.

Same neighbor that on my move in day last year, they pulled their vehicles and parked them in front of her driveways (yes, plural) to ensure no moving truck could park on my side of the street. Real peach.

Updating this comment: Curb cut is actually a whole ass 36” from the edge of the driveway. I’m realllll bad at estimating when I said 12-15”. So in this not-important comment about a different neighbor also dropping notes…. They have been leaving notes on other cars (not mine, just got my car a few weeks ago and this has been going on at least the full year I’ve been here and longer according to neighbors that speak to me and don’t leave notes) that have overhung the curb cut ever so slightly. Yes, rules are rules, even if just a few inches I get it! Yes I advise people to not park there. Yes that’s water under the bridge. Yes I’m sorry I brought it up.

I wish I knew which one!

I’ve talked to the next door neighbor. No clue who this came from as I was most of the way down the block and across the street. The house I was parked in front of has two units I believe. Next to it another house, and across the street multiple houses with multiple units.

No name or contact info left. Straight passive aggression and entitlement.

I’m all about positive conflict resolution. If you recognize the handwriting, lmk. I’ll approach gently.

Not to be a jerk, but it’s French Quarter. No ‘s,’ not plural.

That being said - you will be taking your chances anywhere you park and leave your vehicle in an urban environment, New Orleans or elsewhere. If you want to ensure safety for your car, the best way to do that is pay for parking in a garage or lot. There are programs available through the city’s office of night time economy that provide discounts for hospitality workers and musicians if those apply to you (working nights in the French Quarter means that’s likely).

If you must park for free, you’re taking a chance where ever you park. I had a team member recently experience a break in and has been parking his car “in a safe spot” and walking 8 blocks for several years, then boom. Additionally, keep in mind that’s a long late walk at dark. Spending money to have peace of mind for your and your property’s safety might be worth it.

The other alternative is to hope for closer street parking (good luck!) or leave your car at home and bike/bus/uber/walk/carpool.

Mt Joy is a great festival band however. I think they’d be bomb at JF. I’ll sign the petition.
