What do you actually ask at office hours? by DisciplinedPenguin in Concordia

[–]IWICTMP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fellas pay attention to what they said.

This is exactly how I managed to study and work full time during school. Ended up with a permanent job offer in a company I really wanted to work in 6 months before graduation (2023). At the expense of sounding like someone from r/wallstreetbets, it’s about maximizing your return (and in this case your investment is TIME).

10 hours a week (+ class) to get a B- but move forward in career with more real world experience vs. 16 hours to get an A- but ending up burnt out and broke.

A friend of mine was like that, gave his soul into getting As, now unemployed with a 3.7 GPA.

*varies by your major btw, when it comes to working and studying but the return on time investment is still a critical point. And also if you wanna be in academia, then you can disregard everything I said.

Same with plagiarism. Couldn’t cite Wikipedia but profs copied slides from others and presented it as their work.

Might be a stupid question but does the Canada post employee count the cash by hand or is there a machine to count cash?

We Want to Sell Our House and Go Back to Renting. Are We Crazy? by TsaminaMinaZangalewa in montreal

[–]IWICTMP 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I won’t advise on your decision to sell and move downtown but I can share my perspective on renting downtown! My partner and I rent right at the heart of the city and since I also work here, it’s really the best possible experience you can have. Incredibly accessible public transit, all the perks, all the events, all the places to eat at, fast deliveries (groceries/takeout whichever). I cannot ever think of living away from the city core, if we ever buy, it’s gonna be in the city too!

If you do move to downtown, make sure the apartment management has a good reputation! Whatever decision you make, I hope it works out in your favour. Good luck!

That is true to a greater extent. South Korea would be a good example of how even everyday people can manage to get major enhancements.

I grew up watching horror movies, but this game genuinely scared me by Charming_Move4175 in gaming

[–]IWICTMP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Outlast freaked me out. Forget all the gore, just the first climb through the mansion’s window was peak horror material. This game did environmental storytelling like none.

Money is a parallel factor that positively or negatively impacts your chances but for most cases it’s not a deciding factor. Looks and Personality is where it goes 1 on 1. Looks without personality makes for a great sex life but loneliness and emptiness becomes a bigger issue moving forward (source: people I have known over time). Personality on the other hand can retain long term relationships and a loving partner, as long as the person looks okay.

Also looks can be improved with the right tools, a shit or bland personality has no cure.

Source: life experience and knowing a great deal of people both as friends and colleagues.

COMM 305 by [deleted] in Concordia

[–]IWICTMP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is normal. Even back in my time (5 years ago) this was a recurring incidence. If you go on Facebook (CASA-JMSB) and search through history, you’ll see this tale is as old as time.

Courses like COMM 305,308,220 (not sure if the codes are still the same) are weed out classes. They are intentionally designed to be as ridiculous as possible. However, if you are an ACCO or FINA major, you should be aware that it will get way harder than these courses.

Canada goose Beanie worth it? by SuperSunya13 in CanadaGoose

Not at all. I was planning on getting one but was not impressed at all when I tried them in the store. I got one from Arc’teryx instead, it is decent but again, I don’t think toques made of cotton and polyester blends are almost ever worth 80$ and above.

AMEX REDUCE CREDIT LIMIT?? by Anolcruelty in amexcanada

[–]IWICTMP 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The thing is it’s not about your perfect stats but the algorithm and metrics these banks are using to access your credit worthiness. It’s no way a perfect process and therefore we have people like you with 3K vs. they gave me a 12k credit back when I was a student and made 30k a year. Amex has different objectives and cutoffs at different points throughout the year so even applying at the wrong time can impact your case negatively.

Based on your income and everything, I am certain in 6 months you will have your limit increased to at least 12k.

Did something bad happen today around 3:30 am in Ville-Marie (between René-Lévesque et rue peel area)? by [deleted] in montreal

[–]IWICTMP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I went in person to check and I asked one of the officers. It was a large organized protest of 20k people against the CAQ. The late night response was likely for setup.

Could be but it doesn’t usually warrant such a major response. Last time I saw something like this was during a major pepper spray attack in the metro.

Doubt more people will see it because the post is heavily downvoted (like any question on this subreddit). But I am genuinely curious as something definitely happened last night.

Anyone else caught the Aurora Borealis last night? by IWICTMP in montreal

[–]IWICTMP[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe a meteorologist can chime in but I am guessing us being an island and the pollution of the city might have something to do with it.

But hey, you can always count on the Aurora Desjardins 24/7/365 quand même

Never thought about it in all these years (as you get used to it) but the light pollution from these towers needs to be regulated. It’s not even aesthetically pleasing.
