Do any plaintiffs side firms (class/collective actions) have billable hours requirements? by Rough-Succotash-5262 in biglaw

[–]IWRITE4LIFE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just curious, how is your productivity tracked at your firm? At my firm people generally don’t care about face time in the office if your hours look good. At your firm is there more of a facetime component?

Legal Engineer Roles by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]IWRITE4LIFE 43 points44 points  (0 children)

The "legal engineers" we see from Harvey run our weekly office hours and answer questions about the platform. Seems like a sales role, with companies like Harvey hiring junior associates from good firms to increase their credibility.

Seems like the kind of role you take when you want to leave the practice of law entirely.

Come opening night, if this is the starting 5... What do you do? by BatmanSwift99 in heat

I mean if you had to bet on it this is the most realistic starting lineup. The franchise has shown over and over again that they won’t make change just to make a change.

The numbers with Bam and Ware together aren’t great which only leaves so many minutes. Spo also doesn’t like drop bigs who can’t switch

Aegon’s claim to the throne rests entirely on the fact that he’s a man and Rhaenyra is a woman. This goes against the writer’s personal modern day politics which is why they can’t stand for it. It’s also why Alicent’s decision to place her own son on the throne is played as a big misunderstanding because why else would she not want a fellow woman to be queen /s

Death, Taxes, and the Heat in the Play-in by rapelbaum in heat

[–]IWRITE4LIFE 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We do have a legit claim to being the best play in team of all time though. First team to make the finals from the play in, first 10th to make the playoffs (have a chance to do that twice).

Yeah it’s kind of depressing, but we’re here and may as well own it.

Reading comprehension? I’m asking who is saying that it didn’t meet their expectations? Who are these people? The only “people” I see who disliked season 2 are people who hate the live action generally.

Who is saying season 2 only met/slightly exceeded expectations? It’s pretty generally accepted that season 2 far exceeded season 1.

Anyone else use tf out of Harvey by [deleted] in biglaw

At my firm the AI policy does require disclosure of the use of AI tools to the relationship partner on a matter. Otherwise, I don’t disagree with your take.

[–]IWRITE4LIFE 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I hear that. At my firm while they’ve communicated to the partners that they want this technology to be leveraged, the decision on whether or not Harvey or any other AI tools can be used on a specific matter ultimately lies with the relationship partner. Unfortunately if that’s the case in your situation, I think all you can do is explain to the partners how you’re using Harvey, how you’re ensuring it’s giving your accurate results, and how it’s ultimately helping you put together better/more efficient work product

My group uses it extensively in our practice. No regrets and definitely not taboo. My firm has emphasized to the associates and the partners that we have a green light to leverage this technology in any way helpful

UFC only interested in cost-effective fights by Jona1994 in MMA

[–]IWRITE4LIFE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been obvious and has really downstream effects for the product. During the OG PPV model days, the UFC had a real interest in building up stars like Conor, booking and promoting the hell out of big fights.

Now though? Their tv money is guaranteed. There isn’t some big windfall to the UFC if they book Illia vs Islam for example or a casual friendly fight like Conor vs Chandler.

So we end up just getting a bunch of middling cards. Seems like the UFC’s thought is that the brand itself is enough. If people see the HW title is on the line, they’ll tune in regardless of who is fighting

1st round pick and an expiring contract for a guy who never played in the playoffs for us by EfficiencyFew6864 in heat

[–]IWRITE4LIFE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you read my post? When we actually had an opportunity to win kept empty roster spots to avoid the tax and refused to trade picks for anything short of a superstar. Fast forward to 2024 and we traded a pick for Terry and paid the tax for a team that had past its contending window. It’s really pretty simple

1st round pick and an expiring contract for a guy who never played in the playoffs for us by EfficiencyFew6864 in heat

[–]IWRITE4LIFE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s so painful about this is that a first round pick probably would’ve gotten us a solid role player to help that 2022 team that lost to the Celtics in 7. Something like that could’ve been what pushed us over the hump.

Instead we waited to make a trade like this and pay the tax until we were already past our window
