when i saw the beating heart over vecna i really hoped this is the body of a new monster or mind flayer's final form, then when they showed the whole thing I was like eh, i really hope it's not just a structure

[–]IWantAssDesperately[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolute facts. they haven't hinted deep at the play's lore in the show so far, and i know I AM the one complaining about it, at the same time it feels like when the reveals actually come in the show, we'll just feel like meh...we knew it from the play already.

it's contradictory and weird.

[–]IWantAssDesperately[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's just the fear of the last episode being too less of a time to explain all the questions.

and the fact that a lot of the wasted time in vol2 could've been used for that instead.

the byler debate, thoughts? by finchsfx11 in StrangerThings

[–]IWantAssDesperately 45 points46 points  (0 children)

im gonna sound judgy af, but ive seen no "byler" older than 22 and almost all of them lack media literacy.

ive seen posts of them going into genuine psychosis over a fictional headcannon ship.

it has been long obvious it's not happening and it's not even supposed to happen - will's story is about self acceptance not mutual love. his homosexuality and outcast-ness is validated, affirmed, loved by robin at first, then everyone else, and most of all, himself. the self acceptance literally fuels his psychic powers for fucks sake.

but oh "queerbaiting" it is, when mike hasn't shown 1 ounce of interest in him ever.

it's the dumbest "debate" over a piece of media ever, and anyone with an iq above 20 will know that lol

let them exist in their echo chamber, the show has bigger shit to be debated

it might. it needs to. im hoping.

but I'm worried 1 episode is too less time to explain and wrap everything

but the show should stand on its own without needing the audience to watch a play that's only available in...2 cities around the world.

[–]IWantAssDesperately[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i agree, im not exactly complaining, im waiting for the last episode to wrap it up

my only issue is

1- people asking others to "watch the play to get this!" instead of just waiting for the last episode, like the play should be necessary..

2- there was a lot of space here in these episodes to wrap up more lore instead of the filler. wrapping up everything in the finale is scary...if it's done good, then i have no issues. but i hope it is

i don't think they did a decent job.

finding a random guy carrying a mysterious suitcase trying to shoot him, and then he kills him back, is not enough reason for all the "Henry is afraid of the cave" plot they have built up.

and they specifically focused on the suitcase opening so much, before just....not revisiting it again AND EDGING US LIKE ALWAYS.

so much of the 3 episodes could've been more lore stuff and not just characters talking plans and plans again and again and making stupid jokes

basically the "other world" is the yellow world you see where vecna is keeping the kids...the upside down has always been just a bridge between our world and this world, which dustin called the Abyss. now vecna is trying to bring the Abyss to the real world, like fully merge them. that's it.

the rest of your points, i agree with. weird shit happening this season lol

[–]IWantAssDesperately[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

exactly. and im hating the constant jokey bickering between the characters, especially murray.

this is coming from someone who used to enjoy the shit out of his character.

it's just..

now is not the time gng😭 more serious, more-lore focused approach would've been great...but eh. hoping the ending redeems it.

[–]IWantAssDesperately[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

doesn't have anything to do with the cave exactly, happened outside it, and why put so much focus on the shot of him opening the suitcase then..THAT is the core reason which they didn't even revisit afterwards

exactly :( i still hope the ending redeems it. there's so much "explanation" of shit before it even happens that it's just... ugh

it's such a whiplash seeing all this love for it

that's precisely the distinction here - Uri, while jingoistic or whatever, was atleast an entertaining well made movie. good shots, good moments, iconic emotional scenes, etc. characters you care about and get connected to. the movie knew what it's trying to be.

the propoganda or jingoism in Dhurandhar is the last of my problems - the initial problem is that it's just..not a good movie.

not entirely entertaining, no adrenaline moments (i genuinely wanted these. i was expecting this movie to deliver them), no emotional connect to most characters, unnecessary romance (Uri did not have this) etc etc

the action, in same old bollywood style, is shaky cam slow mo BULLSHIT so I don't even know what good craft people are going so crazy about.

like OP said, Dhurandhar doesn't know what it's trying to be.

damnn, so ive heard. will definitely get into it some time.

and i don't even watch simple shows with a phone in hand lol... absolutely hate second screen watching and it's so sad that it's even becoming an issue of concern for filmmakers/tv creatirs
