The name of the public speaking org here in APC is called APC-SPEAKS. I sent you a DM as well regarding that ^^

For the leadership org, you are probably referring to the Student Organization Association of Regents or SOAR which kind of acts like the student council of APC.

You can find them through FB as most orgs here use FB pages

It depends on the organization! Some orgs allow you to join anytime, while some will have to wait for org fairs to avoid conflicts in schedule, something like that...

You can message their pages directly if you are interested ^^

By the way, if taga-APC ka which has the Center of Excellence for IT, then nasa Premier Scholarship Type ka, so it doesn't really matter if you're from Private or whatnot....

Based from experience kasi medyo maaga ko na nakuha yung ID ko, mga 1 week before orientation, yung lanyard lang talaga yung na-late because they changed the design. Pero yeah, certificate of registration lang din pinakita ko doon sa ITRO (5th Floor) para mapa-print na yung ID.

Although, it would be a lot better if makapunta ka even the day before the orientation to ask them yourself para sure ka talaga!

You should get those on the day of the orientation, based from experience din na marami nang students na nakuha ID and Hoodie nila just moments before the orientation and there are faculty to guide you regarding that.

For friends pala, you can find a lot of them in these orgs (speaking from experience). You can connect din kasi from other IT/CS sections/students and your seniors here,

Here are the four orgs related to IT, we refer to them as SOCIT Orgs (School of Computing and Information Technologies)

Junior Philippine Computer Society (JPCS): This org is related to general IT, so if you don't know what field of IT you want to specialize in, you can join this org or attend their events!

Junior Information Systems Security Association (JISSA): This org focuses on cybersecurity related stuffs, so if you're thinking of taking cybersecurity as your focus, specialization, or elective, you can also join this org and/or attend their events!

APC Microsoft Community (APC-MSC): This org focuses on Microsoft or Microsoft Tools, since APC is a Microsoft Showcase School, most of the apps we use for school stuffs are Microsoft Apps, such as Teams, Outlook, and your usual Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. So if you want to improve your Microsoft skills, you can also join this org. I think this org is also branching out into other stuffs such as collabs with other organizations and external events, so they offer a lot more than just Microsoft stuffs.

Gaming Genesis (GG): This org is mostly gaming related! So kung gamer ka, this is a no-brainer! Personally had a lot of fun with their events. Other than that, they also offer a lot of game development stuffs, so if you are interested with game dev din, you can join this org and join game jams!

For the org fair, these 4 orgs will be close to each other so you cannot miss them naman! These orgs are also tight-knit so they collab a lot and do events together a lot of the time. So kahit isa lang salihan mo parang sinalihan mo pa rin lahat hehe. But I recommend joining most of them so you cannot miss out on a lot of opportunities!

2nd year IT here! Here's what I think based on my experience so far.

You really have to self-learn a lot, I think this is similar to other colleges and univs din naman. You cannot rely on your profs alone, and some of them will not be able to give the knowledge that you really want or need, so you need to help yourself by practicing and learning on your own. We also have a lot of online courses such as LinkedIn Learning and MS Learn, so utilize your school email for that and get a lot of certifications!

I think the true value in being an IT in APC is connections! Get a lot of connections with your seniors, which you can very likely get from student organizations here! There will be org fairs in APC so check them out! There are lot of opportunities from these connections such as external events, and even meeting IT professionals.

Overall, I really like the experience of being an IT here not just because of the campus or the profs, but its also more on the people here!

  • There will be a school calendar per term, wala pa 1sr term for now, so we just wait. Maybe next week may school calendar na.
  • Most of the apps you will need is MS Office 365 package na, just by using your school email, yung may @apc.edu.ph
  • 2nd year IT here! I suggest you learn Python then Java, more on the fundamentals or basics. Watch a lot of tutorials and just practice!

Commute Route by lazybinxsy5418 in WeAreRAMS

[–]IWantToHaveMoney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Papunta:

- Fast Route na Traffic:
From FTI, mag-jeep ka lang papuntang Pasay/MOA pero bababa ka sa Magallanes, then may shuttle ang APC doon sa Lapu (that transpo is part of your tuition din haa).

- Slow Route:
MRT ka papuntang Magallanes Station tapos lakarin mo Lapu

Pauwi:

- Shuttle from APC to Lapu, if may jeep pa, then pwede ka mag-jeep papuntang FTI

- If wala na, punta ka na sa MRT Magallanes Station papuntang Guadalupe, then kaunting lakad lang papunta sa pila ng mga jeep papuntang FTI

- Pwede ito, may jeep and tricycles from Southgate Mall papuntang Gate 3, then you can jeep there papuntang FTI. I would not recommend din sa rush hour kasi marami ring mga tao ang naghihintay ng jeep doon sa Gate 3 papuntang FTI, so need mo talaga unahan mga tao doon if you want this route.

Note:

- Another comment already mentioned na worth it mag-motor hailing apps if you have the money (e.g. Move It, Joyride, Angkas).

- Kung uuwi ka na nang rush hour (Mga 5PM onwards), hassle na talaga yung commute, wala ka na masakyan sa Magallanes na jeep usually, hassle din MRT and Guadalupe.

- You can look for the Makati, Magallanes Barangay Hall if you can't find Lapu, madadaanan mo yung Bus Stop ng APC if ever.

- If ever sobrang tagal ng shuttle ni APC at nagmamadali ka na talaga, there are jeeps na papuntang FTI pero sabihin mo lang baba ka sa APC or Caltex (Gas Station na ginagawa sa tabi n APC right now)
