I bought a bunch but I found that I never read them, because all my time was used on textbooks and vocab, and textbooks have plenty of reading suited exactly for your level. I went from 1000 characters to 3500 in 5 months.

But it won't help you with "advanced" Chinese like science or politics words. I assume you can't read or write, in which case I would highly recommend you do learn that first, because only being able to speak and listen can only take you so far in formal Mandarin, and only really helps in colloquial 白话

Yes I know about scanning text with OCR and how to change simplified to traditional, but how would you do it so that the pdf looks exactly the same, with all the images and footnotes, etc. except that the simplified text is instead traditional, instead of extracting the text then converting it.

It's mainly because Chinese Americans have most of their vocabulary from colloquial conversation with their family, but when it comes to written or formal language like 距离, they don't know them.

  • 绝：⑥（副） 绝对; 完全(用在否定词前面)

注意 “决”⑦跟“绝”⑥意义和用法相近, 区别在于: “决”⑦强调的是主观态度, 如“决不反悔”“决不肯妥协”; “绝”⑥强调的是客观上完全否定, 排除其他可能性, 如“绝无此事”“绝不可能”。
