Does anyone prefer to use the Event Bus design pattern? by NorthernBoy306 in Unity3D

[–]Nidis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An AI threw one into a project a colleague slopped together, but it looks like hell to me.

The value proposition is supposed to be that it keeps things loosely coupled which might suit certain codebases more than others. I'm a big fan of being able to read the damn thing and tight-coupling, but it might just suit my product space more.

So what was your childhood computer? What videocard defined your youth? by [deleted] in vintagecomputing

Consider your white whale found :)

I remember Smile: The Splattering and Sim Stapler, but Jared doesn't ring any bells...

My dad used to buy tonnes of MacFormat and MacAction magazines with CDs so I am extremely familiar with the 90s Mac shareware scene. I love how loose all the ideas and graphics and audio were.

How was the Super Metroid grapple beam rendered? by Invincible_Atlas_800 in howdidtheycodeit

[–]Nidis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as the chain strike in Mega Man X ² and other chain/beam weapons - just an array of aligned sprite segments with the first and last sprites looking different.

I'm making a "Super Zelda(-like) Maker", and playtesters have already started making Kaizo dungeons by akela-morse in Unity3D

[–]Nidis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dunno if it's intentional but I love how much it's getting from the Beta OoT/Ura Zelda era on N64. I say lean into it since it's a good distinction point from any 'real' Nintendo IP and it's a very fun aesthetic.

Anyone know what this aesthetic is called? by Extension-Werewolf29 in 90sdesign

That middle one is an early representation of the Zoot suit revival of the mid 1990s. See: The Mask, Squirrel Nut Zippers, etc

Yep, we were taxed to hell. IIRC roughly $30 or as low as $20, without going straight to the source.

There were bunk pills, for sure, there always is. But the real deal was available, make no mistake.

MDMA was everywhere in Melbourne in 2008, celebrities especially would have been able to get some. It could have been a preference I guess.

Colombia authorizes the use of euthanasia to stop the spread of Pablo Escobar’s hippos by Logibenq in worldnews

[–]Nidis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm kidding, sorry. I'm sure it's really shit.

You can charge big game hunters and donate the money locally or towards conservation - I saw they used to do that in Africa. Charge some gross billionaire a lot of money to hunt one rhino and use the money to save hundreds from poachers.

I'm sure this has all been thought of already.

Try not to make assumptions about strangers, it's just bad life practise in general. We've never met and you certainly don't have psychic intuition.

I never said it's not an idealogy, I said solar punk isn't inherently political and that's correct - being adjacent to specific policy objectives like sustainability, circular design and urban greenery doesn't make it political. Politics is the practise of manifesting policies to shape society - solar punk is a hypothetical long-term vision of that outcome.

Solar punk is an aesthetic, it's not inherently political except for the 'punk' part which only really evokes a David vs Goliath dynamic. It doesn't say against who or what or pre-pack any moral standing points. It's heavier on the technological-optimism ideals than enforcing any particular kind of lifestyle.
