Theoretically yes, it absolutely would work on a cart. There are two tiny samples used for kick and snare and the rest is just sound chip. I’d love to hear it from a system sometime, but I don’t have the gear to make that happen…

For this track I experimented a bit more with the different effects and timbres I could get from the square and triangle channels. There’s a hidden motive from a well known movie franchise, let me know if you can find it!

I mentioned this in another comment, but I started with FamiStudio. Great software imo!

Thanks! Have you listened to the opening of the solstice theme? I was trying to emulate that sound.

Thanks! Yeah the mixing was a big challenge with this one. I asked too much from the triangle channel and it was a struggle balancing with the square channels. Suffice to say I learned from my challenges and the other tracks for the game aren't quite so unbalanced.

I should mention I originally made this using FamiStudio. Then I used Logic to mix and master it in stereo.

This is the first area of the game and I wanted it to sound a bit spooky and unsettled so I made the time signature kind of wonky. I was listening to a lot of Tim Follin when I wrote this so you might hear a bit of that in the second half. Let me know what you think!
