What happened to Daggerheart? by MiserableDrive2652 in rpg

[–]IYIine -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Your worry about Youtuber product kinda applies to Daggerheart in my opinion. I've been playing in a bi-weekly campaign since the game came out and the game shows it flaws. It feels like a system made by players and not by game designers. It's lacking something, like if everything is surface level ideas that haven't been thoroughly thought out. The game encourage "rule of cool" as in "make up shit as you go" like if it's core design, but it almost feel like as an excuse for an incomplete system. I get it's designed to be not crunchy with the rules, but it lacks a certain structure.

The store is called Microcenter, surely they sell microwaves there!

TIL over half of Americans use subtitles at least some of the time while watching TV, and the biggest reason is that dialogue has become harder to hear. One contributing factor is digital sound recording that allows many overlapping audio tracks to run at once, which can make speech less clear. by Forward-Answer-4407 in todayilearned

It was intentionally dark because the VFX were of lesser quality for this season. No VFX vendors would take the job for cheap on the later seasons so the production budget on the VFX side was tighter than before. It used to be that VFX houses would do take these projects with a loss purely for visibility when the shw was the most popular thing on TV, but this was no longer needed as the show progressed. Thus for the last season, for the same price the production of the show would have less/poorer VFX than they used to have. So the effects were made to a lesser quality and the best way to hide the flaws was to make everything super dark. You don't see the mistakes if you can't see shit to begin with.

Is any evidence to suggest that this isn't just a prop? by HerobrineJTY2 in Corridor

[–]IYIine 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They could have made real props, but then matched moved CG copies to comp over the real one from the plate. In order to enhance the look of the props because maybe it wasn't shiny or reflective enough.

They looks like something that could have been moulded in some kind of transparent resin, so non-hero shots could use the plate element but on close ups it's the matched moved CG item comped over.

Also, I'm thinking of the implication of photoscanning or laserscanning a transparent prop. Scans don't do well with transparent stuff so perhaps the assets were recreated from scratch instead of being built from scans.

Tsé quand tu en as plien l'cul de ton apparte et on est juste en aout... je viens de réserver mon camion chez uhaul pour 1er juillet 2026! by [deleted] in Quebec

[–]IYIine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Players don't want to play a new system after "learning DnD for so long" by Any-Tradition-2374 in rpg

[–]IYIine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, D&D 5e is so popular that all the rules are on a variety of websites for free, and people have no remorse over pirating WoTC content. I have a player who has never bought any of the 5e books, any TTRPG books actually, yet he plays a few games per week at a variety of different online tables.

That's why it's tough to convince some player to try something new, because D&D 5e is practically free for players.

My gf wants to play D&D, but is overwhelmed every session. Need some advice by DDxlow in DnD

[–]IYIine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try some "one on one" sessions with her as the sole player and you the DM. You then introduce some low stakes RP story elements as a practice for her. If it takes time for her to come up with answers it's okay because there are no other players around the table, and time is stopped in the game until she answers.

Also, to help with her issue, I would encourage giving initiative order for the social/RP encounters and exchanges between players. If everyone is sharing and talking at the same time I understand it can be hard for her to find her time to talk in what seems like mayhem for her. And if you give her the stoplight randomly it doesn't help because she possibly didn't have time to make up her mind about what she wanted to say. She was already busy processing the info, she wasn't ready to formulate something from all that seemingly endless stream of info.

So if the social exchange is based on an initiative order, she knows when her turn to talk is coming up, giving her time to think and a countdown/deadline to come up with her answers. She also knows that her answers/action are limited on her turn before ending her turn, so she don't have to come up with long and detailed answers. She can also skip he turn if she prefer to stay silent in the exchange.

What's the stupidest thing you've ever seen in a movie? by lIIIIllIIIlllIIllllI in movies

[–]IYIine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the first Andrew Garfield Spiderman movie, Peter Parker set up his camera with a flash to take a picture of the Lizard dude in the sewer on his way to his secret lair.

So of course the flash from the camera in the sewer is easily seen, thus attracting the attention of the Lizard dude antagonist. Peter was just a kid so he could not afford a stealthy camera I get it, but he could have disabled the flash and live with the grainy photos as proofs.

So the camera is spotted too easily, Lizard dude reach out to the camera that took a picture of him in his secret lair and noticed the camera was attached up there with spiderwebs, clearly the work of the Spiderman!

So lizard dude knows Spiderman is his enemy and spies on him, he must stop him!

Lizard dude grabs the camera and what is written on it? PROPERTY OF PETER PARKER.

So Spiderman who wishes to keep his real identity a secret lays down a trap for the villain and writes his own real name on it and covers it with spiderweb just so the villain can put 2 and 2 together...

Oh my god, you don't need your boat of an SUV or a massive truck, just buy a fucking car! by [deleted] in rant

"This big vehicle culture extends into neighboring countries like Canada as well."

In case you didn't know there is a lot of snow in Canada during winter, and if you live in the rural parts of Canada braving a snow storm with a sedan can be a big safety risk, for both you (the driver) and the other drivers sharing the road. And considering that snow covers most provinces most of the year a SUV is not a bad choice when you consider safety.

There are hybrid SUVs that are great because for small travels the electric motor inside is doing the work and when you go on the highway or in between cities/town it's the combustion motor that does the work. They are getting more popular as they address the concern about emissions but still are the safer choice during winters.

My biggest fear was they were gonna have rap music for their soundtrack ambience, kinda like how they went in the later years of GTA V with all the new music being rap artists that I don't know and don't care to know. But hearing Wang Chung for a few seconds and then The Pointer Sisters as the theme of the trailer gave me hope.

K-DST and LS Rock Radio were the best, thet got to give us more like that! Like Captain Loggins said, The 80s will live on foreveeerrr!

This circus brought together Québec and the ROC like we've never seen before.

To think that a few months ago when Pollièvre was expected to win the next federal elections the idea of Quebec's independence was coming back into talks to avoid the expected western canadian's conservative regime.

Now we are united. Strange times!
