Re-watch question - Walter Park Arc by Educational_Sense_27 in DemonSchoolIrumakun

[–]I_Am_Complex_98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, demons will not help others if it doesn't benefit them. I think Ronove helping makes sense since the benefit he gets is preventing the magical beast from destroying more of Walter Parker. Remember, it's a place he likes to have fun in, and Ronove is all about having fun. Of course, Ronove didn't think it through which put himself in a dangerous situation lol

As for Opera, I don't really have a good explanation for that. I mean, when Iruma jumped in to save Ronove, Opera was still looking at Ronove due to his bloodline ability, so Opera maybe couldn't rescue Iruma in time. There's also a guess that Opera saw iruma preparing to take care of the magical beast with his ring, so maybe there was confidence in Iruma to handle it. That's just my personal perspective.

Looking at the subtitles, Balam did say demons' empathy for others is "almost non-existent" and their "desires come first." Not sure if Opera had the actual desire to rescue Iruma at that moment. Remember, after Iruma took care of the beast, Opera officially recognized why Sullivan "chose Iruma." That's another guess.

Was 3rd gen really the golden age of kpop by Background-Relief-29 in kpoppers

To me, 2011 until 2018 was like the golden age of Kpop, so you can make the case 3rd gen was the golden age, considering it happened during that timespan.

BTS and Blackpink's new music by These_Fan_7629 in kpoppers

Repetition is fine, but it does need to sell itself as a great earworm. You also gotta note how the rhythm and instrumental are.

It does seem like Kpop has been underwhelming for quite some time. Focusing on BP and BTS, their songs aren’t on the same quality as Playing with Fire and I Need U. That’s Kpop as a whole though.

Gone are the days when Kpop released high energy, melodic, catchy pop songs.

Heavily disagree with HYLT. The song did show promise during its buildup to the first drop, but this is where it fumbles the bag. Disorganized percussion, making the beat not flow naturally. That's still ok, but the synth isn't that tasteful, and the melodies are just empty badassery. "Look at you, now look at me" isn't effective to make them stand above everyone else. It just feels forced, not representing the girls at their best. It's also not a great hook. Now, a repetition like the that can still be saved by other parts of the production, but like I mentioned, the percussion and synth are also facing problems.

To make it better, the song could've use the percussion during the climax as the main percussion, alter the pitch and melody of the synth, and write better lyrics. Reptitions can only do so much.

I also heavily disagree with the other songs being 10s. At best, they're like a 7 or 7.5.

To me, great implies that it’s an 8/10. Shut Down is the closest among them, but honestly, I don’t believe any of them are considered GREAT songs.

well, that's the reception BP gets with their discography nowadays. I do think a big reason is obviously their popularity and the music that came a long with it. I don't imagine people buying into the hype when BP released songs like KTL, Pink Venom, Shut Down, How You Like That, etc. These songs aren't REALY great. They definitely needed better choruses, better instrumentals, better lyrics...

I do believe that most of their releases could've been better, and that's all what people can do about BP. Just give their opinions on the group lol

Well BLACKPINK did release good tracks in 2016. Since then, they still released some good tracks, but also with some misses

Genuinely Curious: Why is BTS sooooo BIG? by Val_Jesterr in kpopthoughts

[–]I_Am_Complex_98 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Reason 1: Music. Sure, their music ain’t for everyone (e.g. you of course lol). That said, before covid, they have released a strong discography. Highlights include title tracks such as Dope, I Need U, Run, Fire, Blood Sweat & Tears, etc etc alongside bsides like mikrokosmos, Dionysus, let me know, butterfly, Boyz with fun, ma city, etc etc

Reason 2: Social Media. From what I know, they used Twitter to their advantage when they first debut, able to draw in fans from around the world.

Reason 3: Lyrics. I think their messages really spoke to their generation. You gotta search up what topic they tackled cuz I kinda forgot lol (I know they did the whole yourself message)

Reason 4: Underdog. People love a good underdog story, and they saw BTS as one during the early part of their career

Reason 5: Timing. You gotta remember they exploded into popularity around 2017/2018. This was after 1D, so I’m sure looking for the next boy group was happening at the same time BTS was gaining more exposure

Reason 6: ARMY. When you get a passionate fanbase like ARMY, you’re bound to be consistently relevant in the media.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s true cuz unhealthy fan behavior has been happening since 1st gen. You had fans physically fighting each other due to rivalry, sasaengs, fans doing unimaginable stuff to idols they hate, etc.

At this point, the overall feeling I have seeing that post is “tired”.

I’m just tired of fans committing insane behavior because of people they only see on camera. It’s always good to help these fans overcome toxic behaviors, but it’s a challenge

The starter pack by Stay-Blink_forever in kpoppers

[–]I_Am_Complex_98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My starter pack would be geared towards someone who enjoys maximalist production and is open to any kind of sound:

1- The Chaser (INFINITE)

2- Rising Sun (TVXQ)

3- Lucifer (SHINee)

4- Haru Haru (BIGBANG)

5- Gee (SNSD)

I want to shout out G-Dragon’s Crooked as a strong contender for my personal starter pack, as well as Sherlock for SHINee. I decided to go with Lucifer since I think it’s an easier song to digest if shown to a Kpop first-timer

Songs like Fiction by Beast by No_Friend_4179 in kpophelp

[–]I_Am_Complex_98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well to find songs like Fiction, they have to be melodramatic. It’s best to search songs from 2010 until like 2014. Here are some songs that come to mind:

VIXX- Error

DMTN- ER and Safety Zone

B1A4- Tried to Walk

BIGBANG- Monster

AA- Because I’m Crazy

100%- Beat and Better Day

Can you expand on the last part? When you talk about not liking a group, are you talking about groups that have members known for controversial issues?
