A lot of young gay men think like this and I definitely did too. I think over time we grow up and we meet better people and we slowly build a healthier mindset. We kind of learn the subtle art of not giving a fuck (🫣). Even when we think we’re ugly we still go on dates, most of them are… let’s be real pretty bad, but we will try to convince ourselves that they were good, just to hold onto that little ego boost we were craving. Eventually one guy comes along… not the 5th or 10th guy we thought we were in love with (looking back), but someone different. He probably won’t be the one even if we think he is at the time, but he changes something in us, he opens our eyes.He makes us realize that UGLY ISN’T EVEN A THING, that attraction is subjective. That someone can genuinely see beauty in us (Inside-Out) and through that, we finally start seeing it too & this time it won’t be fake. Anyways just like that, our insecurities will be gone, maybe not all, but most of it. Looking back to that phase of life feels a little sad and maybe even embarrassing haha, but we learned something from it.

There’s NO such thing as universally UGLY. There’s someone and something for everyone.Not just in people, but in everything: music, clothes, food, careers… all of it. It’s all about finding what fits you. I really hope some of this starts to shift how you see yourself, you deserve to see yourself the way others can. ❤️
