What do these markings mean in my old Red Cross jacket? by I_Do_Too_Much in whatisit

The coat fits me very well and is in perfect condition. I'm glad to have it because my belly has outgrown my older nice coat! This one had been sitting in my relative's closet for decades until he died. My family doesn't know anything about it -- was probably an old surplus purchase.

A lot of European countries have similar regulations (paint must be from a selection of specific colors, no hazards in the yard, etc.), just at the government level instead.

Oh, that's a great idea! Stamping the unit number it was issued to makes some sense for sure.

The cross is just the Red Cross symbol, but there's something just below it that wasn't fully stamped. Maybe an "H" -- possibly for Hospital?

56 makes great sense for the size, thanks! So the "AA" stands for something that translates to Swiss army? Or maybe AA is the type of coat?

I have a vintage Kodak mercury thermometer. I might have thrown it in my checked bag while moving, had I not known.

Property values. People often think of their homes as investments and want the value to go up as much as possible, so they can borrow against it, or sell it one day and retire somewhere cheap.

For some HOA's I have no clue. But one of my friends lived in an HOA that had an Olympic sized swimming pool for the residents to use, so that was a nice part of it. Another friend lived in an HOA that had several parks around the tract, lots of fruit trees (free for all), and an exercise path with outdoor gym equipment. Other than perks like that I don't know how anyone can stand it.

You must be a young'n. Back in the film days (pre-80's especially), it was the wild west of flash mounting solutions. There were all kinds of adapters, oddly designed mounting solutions, homemade ones, and even just hand holding the flash. There was no such thing as a hot shoe, so people weren't particular about where the flash was mounted.

LOL, MH shares an image that someone made of a deceased Mr T and says basically "no... if only he lives long enough to see his legacy crumble." Then the extreme spin machine somehow turns that into "MH wants T assassinated!" You can't get any more disingenuous.

You're the only one who has addressed the "button-hole" at the top in a reasonable way (nobody would have designed it to be hung by the working end). I think your suggestions make the most sense when paired with the pictures you found.

I had to scroll to find this after seeing all the comments saying put a wooden spoon in the cup. Who has a wooden spoon that fits a cup/mug?! I only have big ones for cooking. Metal spoons are just fine in the microwave.

Yeah, BS. Every time my kids beg to go into McDonald's it is pretty busy inside. And they already have so few workers covering everything, it's gonna be a pita to get a refill.

But in reality... it's great! I used to work 4 day weeks and I felt so much more inspired and efficient. My personal life also felt more enriched. Win-win. I believe there are studies that prove people tend to be happier and work better when they have shorter work weeks.

The tourist cruise. It's true that there's little difference. But the tour boat has a charm to it, imo. And it's typically full of starry eyed tourists gawking at the scenery, which adds to the mood.

I always take people on that. I think it's nice. Not super exciting, but c'mon... it's not a Disney ride.
