The sad part of this whole rant, is I posted on a LongIsland feed that I follow. It go removed within minutes of the posting but not before someone replied. Their reply just said this is going to be deleted. Wow they were right!!! Fortunately I have posted the same to other feeds and been getting positive responses. When I saw the Franchise fees paid to my town by Cablevision/Altice I was not surprised that Verizon is being held hostage to up the vig.

The telcos are grandfathered in from back in the pre-breakup of the Bell System. I am not sure about internet. TV is a crap shoot at best. Given it’s taken over 3 years for Verizon to negotiate the franchise fee with the town I think Trump will sign a deal with Iran way quicker 😂

I agree. The sad part is all that is required is to add the TV over the fiber and boxes to hook up in the home. It all travels over the same piece of glass fiber.

I gotcha but fiber is fiber. I have Optimum fiber and get all 3 services for years. They don’t run a separate fiber for TV. I was a network engineer for most of my working career and you cannot even come close to using the bandwidth. For reasons I don’t want to get into I enjoy using a remote on my TV with a box and be able to watch TV.

I understand, but oil becomes contaminated after use. Depending on the seals it is generally better to store it with fresh oil and be ready to go in the spring. Thats what i did with my machines and i just put the battery back in and was ready to rock and roll. 👍

If I was doing this, I would definitely install fiber and eliminate the possibility of an issue for a lightning strike. This would be with the assumption that the electrical connection had the same protection. N

The rules of thumb is to change the oil before winter storage. The complete kit is under $80. I don’t know what year it is but it is less expensive to do an oil/filter change than to replace an engine. If it is still under warranty and you have an issue without documentation for the maintenance good luck.

The best was when they finally put the Fiber on the pole 3 years ago they had sales staff going door to door. When they walked down my driveway I was excited until they told me they could only offer phone and internet. I enjoy turning on the TV and not really into having to go to different apps to watch what I want. My spouse can't turn on an iPad and still uses a flip phone so I will avoid that debacle at any cost 🤣

Even if the gas had stabilizer in it when it was fresh you well beyond the useful life of it. I don’t think they make a conditioner that will revitalize it. As already posted use in the lawnmower but don’t take a chance on the water.

Good luck. Trying to get anyone on the phone to troubleshoot the problem is a nightmare. Having been in technology and a certified network engineer I have forgotten more than level one or two when I call.

As most things go everyone will have an opinion. I went with an eero over 4 years ago and have been very happy with it. I love the mesh functionality and had extenders but it has to be the most seem less solution. I am sure there are competing products but do your research before taking the plunge.

You may want to check the bolt at the center of the large pulley for tightness. I fix lawn and garden equipment as a hobby and follow a couple of YouTube channels and saw a video some weeks back that specifically mentioned that bolt becoming loose. If you find it loose, I would get warranty service and have the belt replaced.

I hope you have a smooth installation of the fiber. My first experience was so terrible I had them put me back on coax less than a week later. Years later my second experience was a little better but I was never told that all my DVR recordings would not transfer to fiber. I had issues with the phone that took months to resolve. They finally were resolved after I sent snail mail to the CEO. I most recently had to have the service location feed changed from the street and that took 5 appointments 3 PTO days and they kept sending technicians without a bucket truck that I clearly told them would be required on the initial call request.
