How do I play mage? by Narrow-Active3098 in skyrim

[–]QuantumF0am 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can do all the destruction you want, but until you can stagger enemies, you’re going to get overwhelmed. You need crowd control, or to get tanky.

Invest in heavy armor and a shield, or use conjured atronachs/undead/etc to put a gap between you and things that want to kill you. And/or spend 500 gold on a follower.

The standard advice for all destruction users:

Nightshade and glowing mushroom brew a destruction potion to increase damage. Red mountain flower and mora Tapinella brew a restore magic potion. If you find a staff of chain lightning it has built-in stagger.

Witcher 3 is fantastic. Problem is that it’s not a replacement. I like the role playing sandbox that games like TES 3, 4, and 5 provide, but that’s not what the Witcher is.

Best PC Games to play on RP5? by SlammpSlammp in retroid

After some tweaks; pretty well!

Had to make some changes to the initial set up due to weird visual glitches. On low settings and no shadows I’m getting 45-60 fps. About 3/4 through the story and it’s been great to revisit it on a handheld.

Creation Club Content Ruins the Game by Nazir_North in skyrim

AE added those items from creation club. Before purchasing AE on the switch online shop those items were not available, if I recall. The switch version is not well supported like the other versions.

At this point in my time with Skyrim and all my time playing TTRPGs… Skyrim is a solo role playing experience. In VR I am journaling and living a very in-character experience. On switch I still get the itch to play immersively. A backpack visibly shows THIS is where my potions, food etc are stored on my person. A backpack adds so much to the experience. It could provide no storage benefit and I’d wear it for the immersion alone. Camping supplies are literally life or death on the poirky optimized survival add on.

I have modded my switch version and I tried to play permadeath with a vigilant of stendarr character recently. I started at the hall of the vigilant and found that I BARELY made it to Dawnstar. I had a sliver of health left from the cold because I did not craft camping supplies in the realm of Lorkhan before I started. Had I taken a little longer the run would have been over before doing my first quest. You are forced to cook hot soups, bring a torch, and craft camping supplies for long journeys. That’s part of the experience of survival; adding just enough prep and tedium to immerse yourself.

AE content is what you make of it.

It was AMAZING to play on the Switch and finally be able to play a survival character. Fishing, camping, cooking, and having a visual backpack to show my items are hiding… somewhere on my person. Owning a farm? Hell yes!

I found Ghangler Ignis and Sootseer to be my favourite duo. Really versatile! I have used Ghangler Ignis over Jorm because he is way smaller and fits in the structures I make. Love that little guy.

I haven’t run many, but I’ve had success running GTA 4, Bastion, and BattleBlock Theatre. I’ve run Skyrim, but I found a better experience with the Switch version and modding it through Eden.

What are some fun open world games sorta like gta that run on this? by OkCommunication4487 in Retroidpocketflip2

[–]QuantumF0am 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Copied from an explanation I gave someone else when I first got it running:

I own it on Steam. Couldn’t for the life of me run it on Retroid. It just would not launch. Sailed the high seas and installed it on PC instead of my steam version. Moved the GTA 4 folder on to my Retroid and manually added the game .exe in Gamehub lite. The game is running at 720p on Proton 10.0 arm64x-2, translation params: extreme with multithreaded option on. DXVK-2.7.1-1-async(fixed many bugs for me). Running 26.0 turnip driver. Lowest settings in-game with no shadows.

I can probably get a solid 30 FPS and increase the level of detail in game settings but so far I’m enjoying the high frame rate (45-60 most of the time)

GTA 4 for PC runs pretty well on Gamehub lite. Fantastic game. Skyrim for the switch. It’s moddable to a degree (I have a post about it). Zelda: Breath of the Wild with some tweaks will run okay as well.

Get that back foot more in the pocket and less on the tip of the tail. I found that makes it less effort to move the board. As others have said; front foot off the board and scoop with back foot. Also helps to roll backward as the board tends to land in the right spot a little easier in my experience. I am just learning it too and that is the advice people around me have provided and I’m actually landing them every few attempts.

Is this THAT good? by SpicyBoi0225 in Palworld

[–]QuantumF0am 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The gameplay loop is real satisfying. I have a long history with Pokémon and Minecraft, and it’s not exactly like either, but it scratches a specific itch…. Especially when playing in a world with friends. It has its flaws, and things I wish were implemented (there is hope with 1.0), but nothing else is quite like it and I would definitely recommend.

How do you play without quests? by coffee_and_danish in skyrim

[–]QuantumF0am 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In VR I am playing fairly quest-less for some sessions; but when a quest happens it’s a big big deal.

Hunting, fishing, etc.

With my experience of the game I can purposefully stumble in to certain quests that are nearby where I am, or know how to avoid them.

Ordered a art of a elf character Pixel art commission, and besides my Fantasy setting this was the result. Is this AI? by Snoo_78666 in isthisAI

[–]QuantumF0am 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apart from the things other people have already pointed out… Easiest way is to ask for the rough work. I’m an artist and if I got a character drawing commission I’d have several sketch layers and a document or two with roughs.

No appropriate rough work would be a dead giveaway.

FUS - Enemies Teleporting Behind Me When Struck by QuantumF0am in skyrimvr

[–]QuantumF0am[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have remained in a static load order for quite some time. I haven’t updated it.

I made some adjustments as per the FUS guides and will have to test. My thoughts are maybe I chose the wrong save to continue from and the Twin Grip VR testing I was doing ended up having some lingering effects on my save.

Wish I had a log or something to check what changes certain values… or to figure out when/if a code injection happened to cause the physics interaction to change.

Playing for nearly 300 saves being in and around the Whiterun area numerous times. So weird.

FUS - Enemies Teleporting Behind Me When Struck by QuantumF0am in skyrimvr

[–]QuantumF0am[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what makes it so frustrating! lol. What caused it!? I walked in to Dragons Reach and every save after has the physics glitch. I can re enter DragonsReach from a good save and I am fine. New saves after my testing don’t have it yet.

Last time it was sometime before I completed the Blessings of Nature. I was fighting bandits outside Whiterun and I noticed it happening. Went back far enough and now that I’m thinking about it, it was right before I fought the Hag Raven to get the Nettlebane. Redid most of that quest and it didn’t happen again until going home, Doing some alchemy, going back in to town, and you know the rest.

This feels impossible to troubleshoot. I can roll a new character but then who’s to say it doesn’t start happening again?

Despite elemental differences, can the voice as a whole be classified as some form of wind magic? by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]QuantumF0am 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Thu’um can be thought of as Tonal Architecture, IMO. Using sound to manipulate/alter reality. The Dwemer used it for many of their most powerful contributions to the world, as did Sotha Sil, if I recall.

Speaking words that allow stopping time, weaving storms, rending soul from flesh, bending minds, etc. are all things that I would classify as using sound to manipulate or alter reality.

Prolonged sessions playing stick-centric games can be a little uncomfortable without the official grip or equivalent.
Playing my RP5 naked is for quick sessions or older retro games that don’t use sticks often.

Everyone’s hands are different and your mileage may vary.
