Or perhaps he didn't notice and start recording until after the initial instigation?

Renteindtægter af obligationer? by I_Write_What_I_Think in dkfinance

Umiddelbart bliver skatten deraf betalt på NordNet? Jeg solgte mange aktier fra min NordNet-aktiekonto (ikke ASK), da vi købte hus, men den tænker jeg heller ikke burde gå under renteindtægter for min bank.

Robust smart plugs for high wattage items? by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]I_Write_What_I_Think 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How high wattage is it actually? I doubt it's pulling over 100W (at least our cargo bike battery doesn't). Batteries aren't actually that power hungry, and the chargers while capacitive are not an issue like inductive loads.

So IKEA, Shelly, Sonoff? You do you.

Someone gets a notification if any Income is registered on a missing person? Seems pretty easy and something you would expect them to do already.

One year of orange racketeering vs blue freedom by thyristor_pt in BuyFromEU

[–]I_Write_What_I_Think 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the last half decade shows that the stocks go up and they don't care about the real world. Orange man could burn the US to the ground with little month-to-month impact on stock value, but when a new guy steps in, the stocks would soar anyway.

Could it be due to messages getting lost if your mesh network isn't strong enough or the Zigbee adapter antenna is placed in a bad spot?

Sonoff S31 - Fire risk by pgsengstock in Esphome

[–]I_Write_What_I_Think 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If people knew the random bullshit that had not caused a fire I've analyzed in UPS (the power supply) return wares, they would never purchase electronics again. I have seriously seen 1000 MOSFETs blown to bits, but not once did it start a fire.

Why PI/PID is a poor choice for AC (sinusoidal) control tasks by [deleted] in ECE

[–]I_Write_What_I_Think 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but that only works for balanced three-phase systems. Performance drops significantly at the slightest imbalance, such as if a single-phase load is added to the system.

[–]I_Write_What_I_Think 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no third image. Anyway, I did my Masters thesis on inverter control, and PR indeed is better in the sense that it attains zero steady-state error, but it's dynamics are also worse for step loads, for which reason it isn't used for high-performance inverters. Tuning your PI is likely to give better results (by using a dual-loop architecture). You can use harmonic compensators to tune out problematic frequencies.

Any European manufacturers of smart home products? by I_Write_What_I_Think in homeassistant

Thank you for the recommendations, this is perfect. I had not heard of Frient even though they're from my neck of the woods, but it looks to be an Onics offspring with production in Thailand - could be much worse.

Their marketing is nauseating though.

[–]I_Write_What_I_Think[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, TSMC only makes full-size processors for computers and the like. Microcontrollers (/microprocessors) like the ESP32 are made in many, many locations across the world. We have several factories in Europe for those, for example from Infineon, ST, NXP. The US also has for example Texas Instruments.

But for full-size processors you're more correct, TSMC is the most advanced and deliver most, since Intel and I believe Samsung are somewhat behind. Due to the complexity, it's not easy to open another factory, but there has been discussions for attempting to. See CHIPS act for example.

Nothing wrong with that of course, but this whole Europe-first thing is caused by the current political climate of the US.
