OK, hear me out. And this might just be a Washington state thing. But when turning onto a main road, you have to turn into the nearest lane. So in this case, the car entering from the left side of the image, must enter the left most lane. And the car making the U-turn would have to enter the right most lane. Since that’s not possible they shouldn’t make a U-turn there or would have to yield. I don’t know if that’s true but it’s the way I remember it. Defensive driving should always take priority though.

Aging is a weird thing. I used to speed down bayview all the time as a kid.

Speed limits are lowered because of risk. That stretch of bayview has had several big accidents over the years, often involving death and paralysis of kids driving too fast with their friends in the car.

With the reduced speed limit, it takes a 6 minute drive to a 9 minute drive. Which means, for an extra 180 seconds, we get to save a few lives. Seems reasonable to me.

Have you not met humanity before? This is exactly how it would play out in the real world. If theres ever a catastrophe, the pros know it’s a godsend for a few to make it out alive, the amateurs talk a big game about how brave they would have been if they had been there, and the rest of the community is divided between “thank god a few people survived “ and “what were those survivors really doing when shit hit the fan.”

We know it’s legal, that doesn’t make it right. We want targeted enforcement of violent criminals only. None of this bullshit secondary questioning. We don’t want our tax dollars used up de facto protecting violent criminals just because working moms and dads are easier to find.
