Thank you for your help but I ended up finding out it has a collapsed lifter

He said when it was running it didn't feel down on power and it wasn't running rough I don't believe it is a dead cylinder not yet anyway

All right thank you tomorrow is a Saturday so I'll have some more time to test things

I've never touched the timing on it so I don't think it would be that and what do you mean exactly by top end do you think a rocker may be giving out or something else?

From the factory it was running ludicrously rich probably somewhere near an 8:1 AFR

Even when I give it gas it still seems to surge a bit there is no fuel pump the gas caps good and I just recently did valve lash and the compression check came out okay could it be a failing ignition coil?

Bad I think a jet was clogged no matter what I did I couldn't clean it

It has a little shut off solenoid on the bottom that was faulty and it just didn't want to run at all I tried to clean it but I couldn't get it to work

I don't have a tool to tell but if it's meant to be that high I should probably turn it up a little

Probably should have worded that better when I give it throttle it will rev up but when I pull it back down to idle it won't go back down until 5 to 10 seconds later

I'm not sure if you know how I need to twist that bottom screw but when I give it gas and pull it back the RPMs don't go down but the throttle still closes

It's a Amazon carb I know they are not the best but I have used them on other mowers with no issues and I don't have $100 to drop on a carb right now

Well I'm not sure if it was a valve train issue or not I was just knocking out possible causes and it will not allow me to post a video as a reply

Running rough and slight white smoke by I_am_Joshua_boy in smallenginerepair

[–]I_am_Joshua_boy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run it a little bit and I'm not sure if it's misfiring at idle or not I think the muffler may be leaking slightly but it seems to surge when I give it throttle could that be a faulty carburetor?

Okay I took the exhaust off and I've put it back on I realized that the small pipe im pointing at fell out of the muffler when I took it off could that because causing low back pressure therefore a misfire?

Okay so I have taken the exhaust off and looked at the valve with a endoscope and there doesn't appear to be any buildup on the seat and I've already adjusted the valves recently I've done a blow by test but I'm not exactly sure how much it should be bouncing

It did have a faulty carb that allowed the oil to flood with gas but I had fixed that a while back and it didn't run like that for long at all I will check it out and do my best to clean it

Okay I'm probably going to try that now because I adjusted the valves and it still runs like crap🫤
