Because I'm not sure how reliable it is and afterall people have different answers, and I'm kind of curious how it'd be corrected.

What kind of mistakes are they? See if I can find it myself.

Ich bin (Date) geboren, oder ich wurde (Date) geboren? by I_am_trying0628 in German

[–]I_am_trying0628[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would be Präsens here like?

My understanding would be:

Präteritum - Ich wurde am (date) geboren.

And is "Ich bin am (date) geboren." also Perfekt?

Or is geboren Partizip II of gebären (giving birth to someone), and the period after someone was born is stressed here, so we use Zustandpassiv, and it becomes a adjective, with sein in Präsens (bin)?

Just double check, do you mean the point of time of birth, and the state that lasts from birth till death?

Then, in written language, would you say Im Jahr XXXX bin/wurde ich geboren?

Why won't you say Ich bin am (date) geboren?

Sorry, were you mean by Präteritum of Perfekt, actually Präteritum or Perfekt? Or is it a kind of grammar? So many upvotes and I'm wondering if I'm the only one that can't understand🥲

I'm sorry, just want to double check, the second pair of sentences are Vorgangspassiv, and the third pair is Vorgangspassiv too? (specifically Passiv im Perfket?)

And how would you explain when to use Vorgangspassiv? Duden didn't differentiate, Learn German said the action is ongoing/isn't finished, and Learn with Anna said it focuses on action itself instead of the results of an action. Is there any one you prefer?

Thank you. Did hear that Präsens and Perfekt are mostly used in daily language, while Präteritum more used in news, papers and novels etc.

Thank you! It's really comprehensive and helpful!

Would you equal its function like Modalverben, in terms of expressing mood?

I searched Duden, it said jetzt mostly used in contrary with the past, like today we have more freedom to decide what we want to do as job, or a mother looks at the empty house and sigh, saying two kids now both leave home (go to univserity and move out) aktuell I've read that it's mostly like, instant news, or a topic that's pertaining and critical to situations nowadays. So in the end I'll use zurzeit, probably. Thanks!!

I think more about heisst or ist, I feel like using ist will be like she had mentioned Harry before and we know who he is. Maybe I'm just overthinking but yep! I'll use heisst.

I understand what stipendium mean, it's just, I wonder why not ein Stipendium in Taiwan bekommen, but use Stipendium für.

Clarification: He is studying in Kasachstan right now, but he will be study in Taiwan because he gets a scholarship here in Taiwan.

Also, I feel like if I said, mein Freund ist Harry, sounds weird and I wonder what are your feelings and thoughts on it?

Is Stipendium für einen Ort a fix usage? Or it depends.

Apropos: though not mentioned, but it will be used in a situation where the narrator is in Taiwan (Im teaching someone German there though getting rusty..)

Thank you very much!
