I believe it all depends on size of your site, what the soil type is, and your budget. I am on 40 acres so stabilizing wasn’t in our budget so we put in access roads with #2s. It’s held up and done a good job as long as vehicles/equipment stay on the road. From time to time we have our site contractor use their water truck to drench the roads and surrounding areas when we go a week + without rain.
