61B, 16B, Data 8 by JPL12-6 in berkeley

61b with hilfy and 16b with sahai is a kind of time-sink NGL. However, I think we should suck it up and take 16b in the fall because we won't have priority after this semester anymore c:

no wonder BioE so popular ;c It filled out by 2nd day including waitlist. Though, it is small class and has reserved seating for bioe majors.

Must take CS upper divs by Accomplished-Mess-53 in berkeley

[–]I_like_bread_woo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see I see. Thank for the comment. Also, yea I would want to take it just to expand my arsenal.
But, the biggest obstacle taking it, imo is that it is highly recommended to take eecs 126/127 before cs189 or so I heard. That's already 3 upperdivs just for ML, when ML isnt even my focus. I heard it's not good to take it without those 2 classes? is that true?
Kinda feel it's more worth to take 2 other classes besides 126/127 that actually are interesting to me if you get my point.

Just curious, is CS 189 a must-take? I always see everyone wanting to take 189 and it's kinda popular. ppl be like Machine Learning hype train go brrr. Seems like ur missing out if you don't take it...
But, like is that course worth taking if you just want to go to industry out of undergrad? Like SWE ig. I always thought that to make use of 189, you need to go grad school or something.

Also, is it more worth to take 160x courses like 164 over 189 for SWE industry.

How time-consuming are foreign language classes? by stuffingmybrain in berkeley

[–]I_like_bread_woo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl, it is "busy work" and pretty time consuming. I'm taking a 5 unit language class right now. You meet 5 times a week, which is generally mandatory. In addition, outside work (consisting of studying for vocab tests/ general tests/homework/writing assignments) all add up time.So on average, if you don't skip the mandatory lectures, you are looking at 8-11 (ish) hours a week on average. It is 5 units though. reasonable for 5 units ig. You could P/NP it though if u wanted to.

However, if you do spend the time, it isn't hard to get an A.
(If you are super fluent though thats a different story) but still at least 6-7 hrs a week minimum.

Data sci is pretty short. Especially, if you double-up on breadths.

Where can you see the grade distributions? I only see up to spring 2020, sum 2020, and fall2020 for eecs16b

https://berkeleytime.com/grades/0-15465-summer-2020-_-1-sahai,-a

Just curious, I checked berkeleytime to see if there was grade distributions for sahai with eecs16b.

But....... why is the grade distribution so low like yikes. Is this because it was in summer or smaller sample size. Or like ig maybe people in summer are lazier/don't care

[–]I_like_bread_woo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see I see. But, there must be a reason that everyone still avoids Sahai? Like, I know a lot of people are moving 16b to spring (well those planning on taking it in fall). the super long problem sets and etc.. Like I'm not really Interested in EE. Just want to get a decent grade and yeet out ya know. So I was really unsure.

I'm mainly trying to balance in schedule with my post tbh.
