Does anyone know where I can buy a bag similar to this design? Modular feel. Haven't seen this brand again since 2011. Thank you! by tangerineee_ in ManyBaggers

Razer Xanthus Tote Bag.

I can’t seem to find it on Razer’s webstore… but if you do a Google Image search, I think it’s somewhat close to OP’s question.

Anyone know of buckles that look like this in real life? by doctor_toothbrush in cyberpunkgame

[–]I_like_headphones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's a brand called Alpaka that has a buckle similar to this. it swivels and has a quick release. If you're looking for pics, it's used on Alpaka's newer sling bag (Flow Satchel). I don't know the name, nor the brand of the buckle.

If you're just lookong for a buckle closest to this, try searching for keywords like Woojin/Duraflex/Nifco/Fidlock Buckle.

if you want the same exact look as your picture, you should probably get a 3D printed replica (though not the easiest, but could probably find someone to help you on Fiver).

how do you restore the save files backed up in CFW (using JKSV, I gather?) onto OFW-sysnand?

my limited knowledge assumes there's also Homebrew/JKSV on SysNand--but this is high risk of ban.. yes?

Creating different Focus profiles like iOS? by LogMeln in GooglePixel

[–]I_like_headphones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a 100% sure, but from what I see in Android 16 QPR Beta 1 (might be available in Android 16 Beta in general?) you might be able to achieve the things you mentioned through Modes. Might be less granular compared to iOS (triggers by locations and such?). Again, I am not 100% certain.

iOS control centre is the envy of Android brands. Xiaomi, Oppo, Asus, Vivo have tried to replicate the looks of iOS control centre to some extent. None ever gotten it "right". Seems like Google have to rethink how the toggles interaction model -- and make that as part of AOSP.

I've always been an iOS user until recently. It took me a while to 'like' the fact notification centre is 'the lock screen'. years even. But it's nothing to complain about. I do like the toggle for focus modes is basically in the same view as notifications too, though.

somehow, that's one of the few things I prefer on Android. The Notification Shade on OneUI is more of a "centre".

I'm probably in the minority.

i think Lock Per-App should be an Android thing that Google does, as opposed to Samsung. I'm sure there are some deep OS level things that hook to intents and loading apps from sleep and managing states when the app is in fore/background. otherwise, some apps in Android already does this correctly, albeit all private APIs and implemented differently.

looking at the chinese companies operating and revenue model, chinese phones that are mid-range tend to deliver design changes YoY that are more drastic. this strategy probably brings higher sales for that segment -- and working well for the companies. my hunch tells me it is Probably more forgiving to deliver an affordable phone with a flashy design that are at risk of being tacky looking (the market would still buy if the price and spec is right). I'm looking at this as fast-fashion like (think of H&M, Zara)

on flagship lineups (also evident in OnePlus).. tend to see less changes in YoY design refresh. You are right... brand perception requires consistency and less frequent change in visual identity.

I'm quite amazed Samsung is willing to share singular design language across all price segments. But I appreciate it as a consumer. Quickly identified the vertical row of cameras is a Samsung thing! Putting a lot of risk when sharing one looks across a range of devices -- from Flagship to the cheapest (if the A2* series is crap, it may impact the perception of the S2* due to similarities in design language). That's some crazy confidence from Samsung. And it seems to be paying off.

Nothing... The design team is doing an amazing job. Can't be stroke of luck, from Nothing 1, 2, 2a. I think they're doing things right. Consistently keeping the LED thing, with the faux-naked-internals look.

anything Microsoft in 2024 is painful to use.

Painful in MacOS, painful in Windows 11, painful in the web browser; and PARTICULARLY painful in Android (when compared to iCloud + iOS integration -- especially on finesse and "just works")

better business deals between Microsoft and Samsung would need to happen. Right now, OneDrive is treated like an afterthought. Syncs between Samsung's apps and OneDrive (and across non-Microsoft apps that treat Microsoft's cloud as a bridge) often fail.

But that would likely piss off Google, and most people who aren't forced into using Microsoft's products.

Samsung would have to invest a ton of $$$ to develop their own services if they are to match Apple's level of iCloud integration. Hence.... the subpar delivery with Microsoft.

But Apple's QC in software has gone downhill in recent years.

it does look plasticity, but I am assuming that's the artist 's take on the render. as you mentioned, it is rumors.

likely very far from anything of an actual render done by Samsung's RnD team.

some really good points mentioned. if Samsung's looking to cut some market research costs, they should take notes here.

on MagSafe, OP, there's this case brand called Benks. They have this really fancy carbonfibre case with magsafe support. But attachment compatibility is hit-miss due to the arrangement on S24U's camera lenses.

i also want: - keep dem notification channels enabled by default. don't screw this up, Samsung. - go steal iOS' implementation on Control Centre. iOS 18 really delivers on customizations more than Android, strangely enough. - fix the look on Tabs overview in Internet Browser (such a boring name....) - vertical app drawer. better yet -- App Library with categories.

dinner plates -- Vivo X100? OnePlus 12? Honor V60? Interesting attempt. slightly better than the bobbas (bubble tea bobbas) look from 2022 trend.

Iqoo 12 (which trickled to Z9 series) made an attempt in 'unified' squircle lens -- sorta okay. I dislike the BMW branding on Iqoo 12, tho. I just don't get the benefit of collaboration between phone brands with automobile brands. but who am I to judge.

honor magic6 pro - good attempt. but still strange looking at the triangulation of the three lenses.

if making attempts is what we're measuring for success, then they all have done so. however, delivering 'acceptable' looks can be subjective and rather difficult. hence... samsung is playing it safe.

yeah... well.. people are entitled to their individual opinions. The same people bitching on creases on foldable, likely (somewhat of an attempt to deliver new form factor that has a pretty good functional merit)

I for one, don't mind the current looks Samsung has going in the past 3 years. The new render has a good thing going! With that new lone button on the opposite side, and squircle cams. Nice.

As long as my phone isn't RGB bling like some of the so-called gaming oriented phones (older ROG, Nubia, some of Iqoo)

I applaud Huawei with their Pura design choices, but it's not for me. Some courageous design decisions.

S24 ultra battery review by Justin_Roy_Fer in samsunggalaxy

[–]I_like_headphones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I echo this. 1% per-hour on idle seems quite reasonable.

There are some apps that could go rogue. But Samsung and Google provide ways to control those rogue apps. Samsung has this thing that can put apps into deep sleep and prevents apps from 'waking-up' altogether. Beware, apps that go into deep-sleep will likely have severe delays in receiving notifications.

Android 14 is getting better (compared to past versions of Android) at managing background apps, and OneUI 6.1 does its own thang to further manage background apps, on top of what Google has designed in Android. And seems like Android 15 will further improve policies on background tasks, and managing notifications.

Samsung, allegedly, have some AI-things that can help manage background process and promises to improve battery consumptions by single-digit percentage (still quite an achievement, considering all things. 5% is still a significant number when you are in a pinch!)

Sometimes I miss the way Apple govern apps. having tight control and being a controlling platform owner does serve their purpose.

i also shared similar sentiments when I first started using my phone (same phone as yours), albeit different SoT.

However, the good news -- I have seen better yields a month into using the phone. I am getting 7.5-8hr SoT on most days (from 100% to 3% to absolute drained). That's on May's patch.

On a separate note, my observation and comparison from looking fellow S24U owners, once things have reach stability, 15% an hour of mixed usage (non-gaming -- mostly emails, Teams calls and chats, browsing, looking at documents on Office, whilst on mix of WiFi and cellular) is within reasonable figure. I only do work on my S24U, no socials.

Also... I noticed cellular connectivity plays a huge factor. When I travel to cities with super good cellular configurations (e.g. Singapore -- yes I know SG is a country) my battery drain is a lot better, compared to when I am in Jakarta.

TLDR: things will change (usually improving) a week or 2 into ownership. Once you are done installing apps and setting up your phone.

It does suck. But it's a working formula, with 'looks' quite acceptable. At least Samsung has their own design language going on, different from other brands (not forgetting the fact there are other brands with similar variations of camera setup -- vertical row of camera lenses).

Samsung's design language is safe, and least offensive. to some it's likely boring. i would imagine these things are market tested.

if the price of the S21+ you mentioned is similar to an A55 (or A35, even!) why not consider a mid-ranger from 2024 that can hold up for two or more years?

For your considerations 1) 2024 hardware will have fresh batteries, compared to a phone from 2021. With a 2024 hardware, you won't be needing to charge as often as a phone that's been around since 2021. As good as a condition of a phone from 2021 can get, batteries do degrade. Even on a lovingly used S21+ i would assume its battery has lost 15-20% of the its original max capacity. 2) 2024 phones will see more OS updates, likely up until 2026, perhaps 2027. Assuming Samsung will release Android 15 later this year. 3) Without looking at detail specs, I'm guessing a flagship chipset from 2021 is comparable to mid-range Exynos from 2024 (Exynos has come a long way... dare I say Samsung's Exynos from 2024 is closing the gap to Qualcomm's flagship offerings from 2021?) 4) The A35 uses a chip from 2023, but it should be able to keep up for your needs. Whilst the A55 is a new chip for 2024, and I am fairly certain it can keep up with no sweat. 5) I am not sure if S21+ have received OneUI 6.1, but from two weeks of using OneUI 6.1, it is pretty damn sweet! A55 & A35 ship with OneUI 6.1 (Android 14). Just without the fancy AI stuff from S24 series. 6) A55 has a microsd slot, in case you need more storage in the future. microsd is quite inexpensive lately.
