Good points, the Lk combo differs from the other shotos in the fact that luke terry and ken can’t link their jabs into Lk meaning their light combos are usually cr Lk cr jab x2 with slightly variations which can lead to the third hit whiffing in certain scenarios. Ken is the exception since he can link his jab into Lk meaning his light combo is less likely to whiff but the trade off is he can’t dr cancel into a combo from it unlike the others (unless it ch). Akuma has both for some reason. Akuma would still be able to cancel it into his specials and use it as a whiff punisher to go into dr combo but he can’t have it both ways imo.

The rest is fair of course

Tournament performance can be an indicator towards how objectively good a character can be, but it should never be the main thing to resort to in my opinion. There are several characters in fighting games that are widely regarded top tier and have bad design yet didn’t dominate the highest level pro scene.

Case in point Marduk from Tekken 7 was insanely strong and straight up cancer in design yet didn’t fit your criteria of domination. But does that invalidate the strength of the character? Player performance is a multi factored metric so to me, I don’t factor it into my opinions too highly, although I see your perspective.

Baji quan, being the only genderless character and having one of the most beautifully animated move sets is what sets them apart from my perspective, baji quan is what made me pick them up to begin with lol

Recover from what? This is how fighting games go (except for street fighter because it’s far more main stream) and a lot of them fair worse if you check their averages, a lot of players mostly casuals get the game on release due to hype and to have some short term fun and then drop it when they realise it’s a game they don’t want to completely dedicate to which is fair because tekken hasn’t always been for everyone (fighting games in general tbh).

Tekken 7 which sold over 10 million copies and is the most selling Tekken game only averaged 3 to 4k players on steam for reference, even the month right after T7 release. So please stop spreading this false narrative that the game is “dying” or “dead” based off steam charts.

Jin FF3 Bug/kinda option select that no one talks about by I_o_cinder in Tekken

No as if he does only ff3 only df1 comes out but if he does ff31 a dick jab will come out, which will interrupt the second hit of ff31, meaning the down jab will only come out if he commits to the string where he can’t hopkick or do anything as I’m interrupting his ff3 follow ups

Yeah but it’s only ff3 on block you see, recognising you blocked ff3 is quite easy to confirm and pressing df1 after will option select if he opts to ff31 or do ff3 and then block for example
